Your Bleacher Denizen is in Laingsburg on a somewhat cold and extremely windy day, covering a baseball doubleheader. Here is the play by play of the first game.

In the second game, even though we are in Laingsburg, the Wolfpack will be the visiting team and bat first. Your Bleacher Denizen struggles to accept this bit of logic, but everyone else seems okay with it.

It is now time to look at the events of this game through the eyes of an Aging Bleacher Denizen who will always be totally proud of the single fair ball he hit in little league. (It did happen once!! In fact, I’m a right handed batter and it went to the shortstop, so I will say I pulled it!!)
Dom Garcia singled to left field to lead off the game for the Wolfpack and stole second base. He took third base on a sacrifice bunt by Meo Garcia. (He came EXTREMELY close to beating out the bunt for a single.) Dansville Pitcher Nathan Sherwood retired the next two hitters on a foul popup to third base and a fly to deep center field where Austin Hovey made a fine play to catch the ball.
Austin Hovey doubled to deep center field to lead off the bottom of the first inning for the Aggies. Quentin Mayes singled to left field and Austin Hovey advanced to third base. Quentin Mayes went to second base on a throw to home plate. Meo Garcia struck out the next two Aggie batters. Nathan Sherwood ripped a line drive single off the shortstop’s glove to score Austin Hovey. Quentin Mayes scored on a throwing error on the play. Dom Garcia struck out the next Dansville batter to end the inning.
Dansville scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.
Nathan Sherwood retired the three Wolfpack batters in the top of the second inning on a grounder to second base, a fly to center field and a strikeout.
Dom Garcia retired the three Dansville hitters in the bottom of the second inning on a strikeout, a grounder to third base and another strikeout.
Nathan Sherwood retired the first two Laingsburg batters in top of the third inning on a grounder to second base and a short fly where Aggie Second Baseman Cavren Gavin ranged into right field to make the play. Dom Garcia singled to center field and stole second base. Meo Garcia singled to center field to drive Dom Garcia home. Liam Esch singled to right field and Meo Garcia advanced to third base. Liam Esch stole second base. Nathan Sherwood retired the next Laingsburg batter on a popup to the shortstop to end the inning.
Laingsburg scored one run in the top of the third inning to shave the Dansville lead to 2-1.
Austin Hovey singled to right field to lead off the bottom of the third inning for the Aggies. Quentin Mayes walked and Austin Hovey took second base. Austin Hovey advanced to third base and Quentin Mayes to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Mayson Burgett. Austin Hovey scored on Wyatt Mosley’s single. Wyatt Mosley forced a throw to second base with aggressive baserunning and got into a rundown. Quentin Mayes took off for home and beat the throw. Wyatt Mosley got to second base safely.
Wyatt Mosley advanced to third base on Nathan Sherwood’s groundout to the shortstop. Meo Garcia struck out the next batter to end the inning.
Dansville scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning to extend its lead to 4-1.
Nathan Sherwood struck out Laingsburg’s leadoff batter in the top of the fourth inning. Pinch Hitter Jake Rivet doubled to right field. Wyatt Mosley made a fine running catch at first base to retire the next Laingsburg hitter on a popup. Quint Garcia lined a single to right field to drive Jake Rivet home. Paxton Rodriguez singled to right field and Quint Garcia advanced to third base. Paxton Rodriguez stole second base.
Dom Garcia singled to center field to drive Quint Garcia and Paxton Rodriguez home to tie the game at 4-4. Dom Garcia took second base on a throw to the plate. Meo Garcia doubled to left field to drive in Dom Garcia with the go-ahead run. Meo Garcia advanced to third base when Liam Esch was safe at first base on an error. R.J. Garcia was hit by a pitch to load the bases with two out.
Quentin Mayes went to the mound for Dansville. Mayson Burgett took over at catcher. Nathan Sherwood moved to third base and Joey McMillan to shortstop.
Quentin Mayes retired the next Wolfpack hitter on a fly to center field to end the inning.
Laingsburg scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 5-4 lead.
Joey McMillan walked to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning for Dansville. Joey McMillan was out at second base and Broady Scott safe at first place on a popup that dropped in front of Catcher Collin Logghe, who alertly threw to second base to force out Joey McMillan, who had to hold at first base until he could see if the ball was caught. Hunter Greenman lined a single to left center field and Broady Scott advanced to second base. The next Dansville hitter was out on a fly to Center Fielder Dom Garcia, who whipped the ball to third base to catch the runner who had tagged up and tried to advance for the third out.
Jake Rivet singled to left field to lead off the top of the fifth inning for Laingsburg and stole second base. Gage Reem drew a walk. Quentin Mayes struck out the next Wolfpack batter. Paxton Rodriguez walked to load the bases. Dom Garcia walked to force Jake Rivet home to score as Gage Reem moved to third base and Paxton Rodriguez to second base. Emilio Garcia lined a ball to right field that looked like it might drop in, but Aggie Right Fielder Hunter Greenman caught the ball and fired to home plate to double up the runner trying to score.
Laingsburg scored one run in the top of the fifth inning to boost its lead to 6-4.
Meo Garcia retired the first two Dansville hitters in the bottom of the fifth inning on a grounder to first base and a grounder to the shortstop. Wyatt Mosley singled up the middle. Meo Garcia got the final out on a bouncer to the mound.
As it was past 8 PM and getting dark, the game was ended at this point. Laingsburg won the game by the final score of 6-4 to earn a split of the doubleheader.
Austin Hovey had a double and a single for Dansville. Wyatt Mosley had two singles and two RBI. Nathan Sherwood had a single and one RBI. Quentin Mayes and Hunter Greenman each had a single.
Nathan Sherwood pitched 3 2/3 innings for the Aggies. He allowed five runs and struck out two batters. Quentin Mayes pitched 1 1/3 innings. He allowed one run and struck out one batter.
Dom Garcia had three singles and two RBI for Laingsburg. Meo Garcia had a single, a double and two RBI. Jake Rivet had a double and a single (in just two at bats). Liam Esch and Paxton Rodriguez each had a single.
Meo Garcia pitched a complete five inning game for Laingsburg. He gave up four runs and struck out six batters.
