Now that everyone has eaten and had a chance to enjoy some music, here are the starting lineups. In this game, Dansville will bat first and be the “away” team. Fowler will bat last.

It is now time to look at the events of this game through the somewhat open eyes of an aging Bleacher Denizen who was never able to play high school baseball. Alas, when they refused to allow the Bleacher Denizen to carry a bazooka in the outfield to get his throws to the infield faster, his career was severely curtailed!
Sarah Hawkins led off the first inning for the Aggies with a double to left field; Fowler left fielder Anna Andros made a fine throw to third base to get her out when she tried to take an extra base. Kourtney Mack drew a walk. Erin Sherwood tripled down the left field line to drive in Kourtney Mack. Erin Sherwood scored on Kelsey St. John’s groundout to the pitcher.
Gracie Taylor singled to center field. Sydney Hagelberger doubled off the centerfield fence to drive in Gracie Taylor. Madison Springsted doubled to drive in Sydney Hagelberger. Jenna Schild beat out an infield single as Madison Springsted moved up to third base. Jenna Schild stole second base; as the throw went to second base, Madison Springsted scampered home with the fifth Aggie run of the inning. Brie Halfmann struck out the next batter to end the inning.
Dansville scored five runs in the top of the first inning to take a 5-0 lead.
Aggie Pitcher Erin Sherwood struck out the Eagle first inning leadoff batter. Dansville Shortstop Sydney Hagelberger made an excellent catch of a liner off the bat of Grace Piggott to record the inning’s second out. Erin Sherwood struck out the next batter to end the inning.
Sarah Hawkins beat out an infield single to open the second inning for Dansville. She went to second base on a wild pitch. Kourtney Mack walked. Carly Andros came in to pitch for Fowler.
Erin Sherwood doubled to drive in Sarah Hawkins as Kourtney Mack advanced to third base. Carly Andros struck out the next batter. Gracie Taylor hit a sacrifice fly to deep left field to drive in Kourtney Mack. Sydney Hagelberger drew a walk. Madison Springsted doubled to the left center field fence to drive in Erin Sherwood; Sydney Hagelberger moved up to third base. Carly Andros struck out the next batter to end the inning.
Dansville scored three runs in the second inning to boost its lead to 8-0.
Erin Sherwood struck out the Eagle leadoff batter in the bottom of the second inning. Carly Andros was hit by a pitch and went to third base when Anna Andros boomed a double off the center field fence. Erin Sherwood struck out the next two batters to end the inning.
Carly Andros struck out Dansville’s leadoff batter in the third inning. Sarah Hawkins belted a home run over the center field fence. Brie Halfmann came back in to pitch for Fowler.
Kourtney Mack singled to right field. Brie Halfmann retired the next two batters on a fly to left field and a grounder to the mound.
Dansville scored on run in the third inning to increase its lead to 9-0.
Erin Sherwood retired the three Eagle hitters in the third inning on a strikeout, a grounder to the pitcher’s circle and another strikeout.
Brie Halfmann got the first two Aggie batters in the fourth inning out on a strikeout and a fly to center field. Madison Springsted was hit by a pitch. Dansville made the final out of the inning on a fly to first base.
Paisley Hansen was safe on an error to lead off the fourth inning for Fowler. Erin Sherwood struck out the next two batters and got the third out of the inning on a popup to second base.
With four innings in the books, Dansville had a 9-0 lead.
Halle Service was hit by a pitch to lead off the fifth inning for the Aggies. She took third base on Sarah Hawkins’ single to right field. Sarah Hawkins went to second base on a throw to third base. Dansville made its first out on a fly to center field as the runners held at third base and second base. Erin Sherwood was safe at first base on a fielder’s choice grounder to second baseman Grace Piggott, who threw home to retire the runner on third base. Sarah Hawkins took third base on the play.
Kelsey St. John walked to load the bases. Rebekah Hallock came in to pinch run for Kelsey St. John. Gracie Taylor hit a bases clearing double to the center field fence as Sarah Hawkins, Erin Sherwood and Rebekah Hallock all scored. Sydney Hagelberger’s double to the right field fence drove Gracie Taylor home. Dansville made its third out on a grounder to the shortstop.
Dansville scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to extend its lead to 13-0.
Brooke Weber was hit by a pitch to open the fifth inning for Fowler. Erin Sherwood struck out the next batter. Fowler made its second out on a grounder to third base. Avery Koenigsknecht doubled to center field to drive in Brooke Weber. Erin Sherwood retired the next batter on a ground ball to third base to end the game.
The game was ended by the mercy rule. Dansville won 13-1.
Avery Koenigsknecht had a double and one RBI for Fowler. Anna Andros had a double.
Sarah Hawkins had a home run, two singles and one RBI for Dansville. Erin Sherwood had a triple, a double and two RBI. Sydney Hagelberger and Madison Springsted each had two doubles and two RBI. Gracie Taylor had a double, a single and four RBI. Kourtney Mack and Jenna Schild each had a single. Kelsey St. John had an RBI.
Erin Sherwood struck out ten Fowler batters in just five innings!
