Bath at Saranac – – CMAC Boys Game of the Week – – The Bleacher Denizen – – February 8, 2024 – – by Chuck Krafft
Tonight, the Bleacher Denizen’s travels bring him to Saranac, where the Red Hawks will host the Bees from Bath in the CMAC Boys’ Game of the Week!
While we wait for the game to start, I hope you will enjoy this cover of the Tijuana Brass’ “The Lonely Bull” from my You Tube Channel featuring trumpeter extraordinaire John Rickert!

I got to Saranac in time to go to the Pasty Shop. He makes his pasties from scratch and they are great. I always try to stop by the store when I cover an event in Saranac.
Jay Kreisler is a fine ball handler and perimeter defender at the point guard position for the Bees. Bradlee Uhlmann is another ball handler and perimeter defender who can also run the point. Jacob Kuhn plays in the middle. He is a strong post defender rebounder who is a threat to score near the basket. Remington McCrimmon is a good scorer who can either shoot from the three point line or slash to the basket.
Cole Chamberlain is a tough perimeter defender with a good three point shot. He also rebounds well from his guard position. Ethan Wicks defends the perimeter well and is another threat from the three point line. When I got to the game, I learned that Bradlee Uhlmann and another senior, Sam Wonch have injuries and can’t play tonight. I wish both of them a speedy recovery that will hopefully get them back on the court before the season is over.
For Saranac, Sam Sterzick is an experienced guard who can defend on the perimeter and handle the ball well. He is a fine three point shooter who is also able to score on slashes to the basket. Cody Whipple is a tall perimeter defender who can get hot from the three point line. Hunter Helminski is a fine defender anywhere on the court – – either the perimeter or the post. He is an active defender with great stamina.
Jordan Dodge defends and rebounds well in the post. He is a threat to score either in the post or from the three point line. Lucas Hetherington is the big guy who defends, rebounds and scores in the post. Max Olsen is a good perimeter defender who can score from the three point line or on slashes to the basket. Brody Stanton is a good ball handler and perimeter defender. Elijah Lauer is a dependable rebounder and post defender who can score on slashes to the basket.
I got to the gym at halftime of the JV game. Bath had a 34-7 halftime lead and went on to win by the final score of 68-31.
Landin Barker led the Saranac JVs with 14 points. Silas Mulnix supported him with 8 points. Rejz Conner scored 4 points, Kaleb Thelen had 3 points and Gabriel Thomas tallied 2 points.
Andy Wonch and Aden Briggs each had 12 points to lead the Bath JVs. Calvin Smith joined his teammates in double figures with 10 points. Aiden Wolf chipped in with 9 points and Brady Smith added 8 points. Connor VanEss and Jack Koenigsknecht each put in 6 points. Sam Dunckel scored 5 points.
It is now time to look at the events of this game through the hopefully observant eyes of an aging Bleacher Denizen who was never able to escape church league when he attempted to hoop back in the days of yore when he was considered to be “young.” His basketball career showed some promise when his coach invented a crane that held your Bleacher Denizen high in the air where opposing defenders could not block his shot. Alas, it all came crashing down when an opposing coach invented a similar crane for the Bleacher Denizen’s defender. My offensive efficiency and playing time both plummeted from that point.

There was a shooting contest at halftime; winners won a two liter bottle of their choice of pop. For those of us who cannot be here for the halftime entertainment, I hope you will enjoy these two original tunes from my You Tube Channel.
