Kara Sandberg retired DeWitt’s leadoff batter in the top of the first inning on a grounder to second base and struck out the next batter. Natalie Torrence was safe at first on an error and went to second base on a passed ball. Kara Sandberg retired the next Panther batter on a grounder to the shortstop to end the inning.
Lily Utrup retired Holt’s leadoff batter in the first inning on a fly to right field. Olivia Root was safe at first on an error. DeWitt Catcher Maddie Bekkering fired the ball to second base to catch the runner stealing. The Rams made their third out on a fly to the shortstop.
Lily Utrup grounded a single to center field to lead off the top of the second inning for the Panthers. Kara Sandberg retired the next three DeWitt batters on a fly to the pitcher and two flies to center field.
Lily Utrup retired Holt’s leadoff batter in the top of the second inning on a fly to left field. Sadie Laubenthal drew a walk and advanced to second base on a passed ball. Macey Cole walked. Sadie Laubenthal advanced to third base and Macey Cole to second on a passed ball. Sadie Laubenthal scored and Macey Cole went to third base when Lola Knox went to first base on a passed ball on the third strike.
Macey Cole scored and Lola Knox went to second base on an RBI groundout to second base by Payton Vandlen. Lily Utrup struck out the next batter to end the inning.
Holt scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead.
Jamie Cook doubled to center field to lead off the top of the third inning for the Panthers. Natalie Donaldson drew a walk. Jamie Cook advanced to third base and Natalie Donaldson to second base on a passed ball. Ruby Puck hit a fielder’s choice grounder; on a series of errors, both Jamie Cook and Natalie Donaldson scored as Ruby Puck hustled all the way to third base. Ruby Puck scored on Natalie Torrence’s RBI ground single to center field.
Holt left fielder Eeva Luoma made a nice running catch in left field to record the first Panther out of the inning. Lily Utrup singled to right field and Natalie Torrence went to second base. Emily Agnew came in as a courtesy runner for Lily Utrup. Kara Sandberg retired the next batter on a fly to the pitcher. Kara Sandberg struck out the next batter to end the inning.
DeWitt scored 3 runs in the top of the third inning to take a 3-2 lead.
DeWitt centerfielder Natalie Donaldson made a great running, diving catch to retire Holt’s leadoff batter in the bottom of the third inning. Olivia Root grounded a single to right field and went to second base on a wild pitch. Kaelyn Rozycki bounced a single to left field to drive Olivia Root home. Kaelyn Rozycki went to second base when Marlie Rehm was safe at first when an error was made on a missed popup.
Grace Atkinson came in to pinch run for Marlie Rehm. Kaelyn Rozycki took third base and Grace Atkinson second base on a passed ball. Sadie Laubenthal singled to drive Kaelyn Rozycki home. Grace Atkinson went to third base and Sadie Laubenthal advanced to second on the throw home. Macey Cole walked to load the bases with one out.
Grace Atkinson scored, Sadie Laubenthal took third base and Macey Cole second base on a passed ball. Lola Knox grounded a single to left field to drive in Sadie Laubenthal.
Ruby Puck moved to pitcher. Lily Utrup took over in center field and Natalie Donaldson moved to shortstop.
Paeton Vandlen beat out an infield single to drive in Macey Cole; Lola Knox advanced to second base. Lola Knox advanced to third base and Paeton Vandlen to second base on a productive ground out by pinch hitter Carly McKarick. Eeva Luoma belted a triple to right field to drive in Lola Knox and Paeton Vandlen. Ruby Puck got the next Ram hitter to ground out to third base to end the inning.
Holt scored seven runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 9-3 lead.
Eliana Logan singled to center field to open the top of the fourth inning for the Panthers. Eliana Logan was out at second base and Jamie Cook safe at first base on a fielder’s choice grounder to the second baseman. Natalie Donaldson blasted a triple to the center field fence to drive Jamie Cook home. Natalie Donaldson scored on Ruby Puck’s RBI groundout to first base.
Madeline Torrence was hit by a pitch. Kara Sandberg struck out the next Panther batter to end the inning.
DeWitt scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning to trim the Holt lead to 9-5.
Kaelyn Rozycki lined a single to left field to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning for Holt. Marlie Rehm hit a sharp single to center field. When an error was made, Kaelyn Rozycki was able to score and Marlie Rehm got to second base. Sadie Laubenthal lined a single to center field as Marlie Rehm advanced to third base. Marlie Rehm scored and Sadie Laubenthal went to third base on passed ball. Ruby Puck struck out the next Ram hitter.
Sadie Laubenthal scored on a fielder’s choice grounder to the pitcher by Lola Knox. Maddie Bekkering made a great throw to second to catch Lola Knox trying to advance to second base. Paeton Vandlen lined a single to center field. Ruby Puck struck out the next Holt batter to end the inning.
Holt scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend their lead to 12-5.
Kara Sandberg retired the first two Panther hitters in the top of the fifth inning on a popup to the pitcher and a strikeout. Kennedy Goerge lined a single up the middle and took second base on a wild pitch. DeWitt made its third out on a fly to center field.
Kaydence Ballinger came in to pitch for DeWitt and Emily Agnew went in to catch.
Eeva Luoma walked to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning for Holt. Olivia Root was safe at first base and Eeva Luoma out at second base on a fielder’s choice grounder to the shortstop. Kaydence Ballinger struck out the next Ram hitter. Olivia Root took second base when Marlie Rehm lined a single to left field. Olivia Root scored and Sadie Laubenthal went to second base on a line drive single to center field by Sadie Laubenthal. Kaydence Ballinger struck out the next batter to end the inning.
Holt scored one run in the bottom of the fifth inning to boost its lead to 13-5.
Kara Sandberg retired the first DeWitt batter in the top of the sixth inning on a fly to second base. Marlie Rehm made a nice diving stop on a sharp hit by the speedy Natalie Donaldson; she held the ball to avoid an error. Natalie Donaldson stole second base. Kara Sandberg struck out the next two batters to end the inning.
Claire Mogle entered the game to play right field for DeWitt.
Kaydence Ballinger retired the first two Ram hitters in the bottom of the sixth inning on a fly to right fielder Claire Mogle and a grounder to the pitcher. Kaydence Ballinger showed quick hands when she got the third out of the inning on a line drive by pinch hitter Lynnae Hill.
Kara Sandberg struck out all three DeWitt batters in the top of the seventh inning to end the game.
Holt won the second game of the doubleheader by the score of 13-5.
Natalie Donaldson had triple, a single and one RBI for DeWitt. Lily Utrup had two singles. Natalie Torrence had a single and one RBI. Jamie Cook had a double. Kennedy Goerge and Elaina Logan each had a single. Ruby Puck had one RBI.
Eeva Luoma had a triple and two RBI for Holt. Paeton Vandlen and Sadie Laubenthal each had two singles and two RBI. Kaelyn Rozycki and Marlie Rehm each had two singles. Lola Knox had one single and two RBI. Olivia Root had a single.
Kara Sandberg pitched the complete game for Holt and struck out nine DeWitt batters!
