Tonight, the Bleacher Denizen is heading to Dansville, where the hometown Aggies will be hosting the Panthers from Stockbridge. Dansville is looking for its first win this season, while Stockbridge enters the game with a 2-6 record.

It is Senior Night in Dansville, before the game, the announcer honored all the football, cross country and cheer leading seniors as well as their parents. Football players Alex Baker, Quinnton Burgett, Everett Dysinger, Noah Starkey, Logan Storey and Haydon Tomlin were all mentioned as well as cross country runners Theodore Davis, Rebekah Hallock and Ethan Root. Cheerleader Sara Quagliato was also named.

The band played the National Anthem and did a fine job.

It is now time to review the events of this game through the straining eyes of an aging Bleacher Denizen whose football career never got very far. I did learn that most football coaches frown upon defensive lineman who retreat and shout, “Run away! Run away!” when the referee blows his whistle. (I should probably at least credit the guys from Monty Python for that idea. But if you are going to steal jokes, you really SHOULD steal from the best!!)

Noah Beauregard kicked off for Stockbridge to open the game. Gary Ewing dove on the kick at the fifty yard line and the Aggies started their first possession there.

Haydon Tomlin dragged most of both lines for about two yards on first down before he was finally stopped. Dansville fumbled on second down, but Mayson Burgett alertly dived on the ball to prevent a Dansville turnover. Dansville’s third down pass fell incomplete. Zac Rogozinski pressured the Aggie quarterback and Noah Sandecki covered for the Panthers on the incomplete fourth down pass.

Stockbridge took over the ball on downs on their own 48 yard line.

Brandon Hamlett took the ball to the right for a seven yard first down gain before Evan Sykes stopped him. Noah Sandecki earned twelve yards and a first down on his second down run around the left end; Cash Clark forced him out of bounds.

Quinnton Burgett got into the backfield and stopped the Panther first down run for a two yard loss. Zac Rogozinski went up the middle and gained three yards on second down; Alan Rotarius made the Aggie tackle. Noah Sandecki went around the end on third down and gained fourteen yards before Logan Storey pushed him out of bounds.

On the next play, Zac Rogozinski passed to Brock Rochow for a twenty-one yard touchdown. The extra point kick bounced off the goal post and was no good. With 8:11 remaining in the opening quarter, Stockbridge had a 6-0 lead.

Noah Beauregard kicked off for Stockbridge. Haydon Tomlin gained about twenty yards before he was stopped and Dansville had a first down on its own 40 yard line.

Foster Pybus stopped the Aggie first down run for no gain. Mayson Burgett took the ball to the right for a five yard second down gain; Foster Pybus got the Panther tackle. Mayson Burgett completed a short third down pass to Quinnton Burgett; a penalty on Stockbridge gave Dansville a first down on the Stockbridge 45 yard line.

Quinnton Burgett went to the right for a two yard first down gain; Foster Pybus made the Panther tackle. Domenic Ciminelli stopped the Aggie second down run for a two yard loss. Quinnton Burgett passed to Evan Sykes for a short third down gain, but a penalty pushed the Aggies back ten yards. Mayson Burgett was forced out of the pocket on fourth down; he gained twenty-seven yards before Brandon Hamlett pushed him out of bounds to give his Aggies a first down on the Panther 28 yard line.

Haydon Tomlin gained three yards on his first down run before Domenic Ciminelli stopped him. Noah Sandecki covered on the Aggie incomplete second down pass. On third down, Noah Beauregard pressured the Aggie quarterback into throwing an incomplete pass. On fourth down, Alex Baker made the long snap, Mayson Burgett held the ball and Brandon Quinteros booted a 42 yard field goal through the uprights to trim the Panther lead to 6-3!

Brandon Quinteros’ kickoff went into the end zone; Stockbridge started its next series on its own 20 yard line.

Noah Sandecki ran around the left end and gained ten yards (and a first down) before Mayson Burgett and Alex Baker forced him out of bounds.

Stockbridge’s first down run to the left earned three yards. On second down, Noah Sandecki took the ball to the left for a two yard gain; Quinnton Burgett made the Aggie tackle. Zac Rogozinski was forced out of the pocket on third down, but went to the left and gained about ten yards before Mayson Burgett forced him out of bounds; a penalty on the play moved the Panthers back fifteen yards. On fourth down, Zac Rogozinski passed to Noah Sandecki, who made a diving catch on the Aggie 48 yard line for a thirty-two yard gain and a first down.

Brandon Hamlett went up the left tackle and gained four yards before Haydon Tomlin took him down. On the final play of the opening quarter, Brock Rochow gained five yards on a run.

After one quarter, Stockbridge held a 6-3 lead. The Panthers had the ball; it was third down with one yard to go at the Dansville 39 yard line.

Dansville stopped the Stockbridge third down run for a one yard loss. Noah Sandecki gained six yards on a fourth down run to the left before Mayson Burgett chased him out of bounds.

Mayson Burgett and Chris Matyas got into the Panther backfield and sacked the quarterback for a fourteen yard first down loss. Stockbridge fumbled, but recovered on second down; the Panthers lost another six yards on the play. Evan Sykes covered for Dansville on Stockbridge’s long, incomplete third down pass. Noah Sandecki punted on fourth down; the punt went out of bounds on the Aggie 19 yard line and Dansville started its next series there.

Noah Sandecki covered on Dansville’s incomplete first down pass. Brock Rochow intercepted Dansville’s second pass at the Aggie 36 yard line. There was no return.

Noah Sandecki took the ball to the left for a three yard first down gain before Chris Matyas forced him out of bounds. On second down, Noah Starkey stopped the Dansville run for no gain. Dansville’s defense stopped the Stockbridge third down play for a seven yard loss. Chris Matyas pressured the Panther quarterback into throwing an incomplete fourth down pass.

Dansville took over the ball on downs on its own 40 yard line.

Aidin Schipul got into the Aggie backfield and caused a twelve yard first down loss. Josiah Muzzin covered on the Aggie incomplete second down pass. Mayson Burgett completed a short pass to Haydon Tomlin on third down, but after penalties on both teams and a lot of discussion between the referees, Dansville ended up with fourth down and one yard to go. Mayson Burgett plowed his way up the middle for a four yard fourth down gain.

Dansville had a first down on the Stockbridge 46 yard line.

The Aggie quarterback was chased out of the pocket on first down; he ended up losing three yards when Braiden Royal chased him out of bounds. On second down, Mayson Burgett passed to Quinnton Burgett for a four yard gain. Jayson Conant intercepted Dansville’s third down pass and gained about twenty-five yards before Alex Baker and Kane Romano stopped him.

The Panthers had a first down on the Aggie 46 yard line.

Noah Sandecki took a first down pitch to the left for a short gain; a couple Aggie penalties moved the Panthers up to the Dansville 15 yard line where Stockbridge had another first down.

Chris Matyas stopped Stockbridge’s first down run for a one yard loss. Logan Storey covered on the Panther second down pass; it appeared to be a touchdown, but the receiver was ruled to be out of bounds. Zac Rogozinski completed a third down pass to Brandon Hamlett, who gained one yard before Haydon Tomlin escorted him out of bounds. On fourth down, Stockbridge attempted a field goal, but it was not good. Dansville was awarded the ball on their own 20 yard line.

An illegal procedure penalty cost Dansville five yards. Jayson Conant covered on Dansville’s incomplete first down pass. Terrence Cordero stopped Dansville’s second down run for no gain. Jason Conant knocked the Aggie third down pass out of the sky. Mayson Burgett punted on fourth down. Evan Sykes downed the ball on the Dansville 33 yard line; Stockbridge took over the ball there.

Zac Rogozinski passed to Noah Sandecki on first down; he gained seven yards before stepping out of bounds. Quinnton Burgett covered on Stockbridge’s incomplete second down pass. On the next play, Brandon Hamlett broke several tackles on his way to a twenty-five yard touchdown run. The Stockbridge extra point kick failed. With 1:20 left in the opening half, Stockbridge had a 12-3 lead.

Noah Beauregard boomed his kickoff into the end zone and Dansville started its next series on its own yard line.

Mayson Burgett took the ball to the right for an eight yard first down gain. The Aggie second down pass fell incomplete. Zac Rogozinski pressured the quarterback into throwing and incomplete third down pass. Mayson Burgett punted for the Aggies on fourth down; his kick went out of bounds at the Dansville 45 yard line.

A pass interference penalty on the next play gave Stockbridge 15 yards.

Kane Romano pressured the Panther quarterback and Quinnton Burgett covered the receiver on Stockbridge’s incomplete first down pass. An offside penalty on Dansville gave Stockbridge five yards. On the next play, Zac Rogozinski passed to Noh Sandecki for a twenty-five yard touchdown. Zac Rogozinski passed to Noah Sandecki for a successful two point conversion.

With 16.9 seconds left in the first half, Stockbridge had a 20-3 lead.

Noah Beauregard kicked the ball off to the Dansville 25 yard line where Logan Storey grabbed it and gained about five yards before he went out of bounds, but a penalty pushed the ball back to the Dansville fifteen yard line.

Brock Rochow intercepted Dansville’s pass on the Aggie 41 yard line.

On the final play of the first half, Cash Clark covered on Stockbridge’s incomplete pass.

Stockbridge had a 20-3 halftime lead.

Dansville’s band, which is led on the field by drum majors Jessika Ivy and Hope Service, did its halftime show, “Anti-Hero”. I could not hear the band very well in the press box, but what I heard sounded fine and their precision marching was top notch!!

They played “Raiders March” from “Indiana Jones”, “Hooked on a Feelin'” to salute “Guardians of the Galaxy”, “Jump in the Line” for “Beetlejuice” and “Holding Out for a Hero.” Kudos to the Aggie Band.

When the show was over, the announcer saluted the Aggie Band Seniors. Ella Bloom, Hannah Burn-ham, Theo Davis, Jessika Ivy, Katelyn Mosher, Abigail Post, Audree Prather and Carter Tkaczyk were all introduced to the crowd along with their parents.

The band finished halftime by playing the Aggie fight song.

Brandon Quinteros kicked off for Dansville to open the second half. Brandon Hamlett fielded the ball for the Panthers on their own 46 yard line and gained four yards before he ran into Kane Romano. Stockbridge started its first series of the second half on the 50 yard line.

Noah Sandecki took a first down pitch to the left for a two yard gain before Evan Sykes tackled him. Brandon Hamlett went up the left tackle for a six yard second down gain; Haydon Tomlin made the stop for the Aggies. Noah Sandecki went around the left end on third down; he earned thirteen yards and a first down before Alan Rotarius forced him out of bounds.

Cash Clark covered for the Aggies on Stockbridge’s incomplete first down pass. On second down, Noah Sandecki took a pitch and ran for a 29 yard touchdown. The Panther extra point kick failed, but Stockbridge had a 26-3 lead with 10:01 to play in the third quarter.

Noah Beauregard kicked the ball off to the Dansville 23 yard line where Quinnton Burgett dove on the ball. The Aggies started their next series there.

Mason Burgett completed a first down pass to Haydon Tomlin, but Stockbridge stopped the ball for no gain. Jayson Conant covered on Dansville’s incomplete second down pass. Brock Rochow intercepted Dansville’s third down pass on the fifty yard line.

Dansville turned things around quickly as Chris Matyas pressured the quarterback and Cash Clark intercepted the Stockbridge first down pass at the Aggie 42 yard line.

Haydon Tomlin gained two yards on a first down run before Domenic Ciminelli stopped him. Dansville fumbled on its second down run up the middle; Stockbridge elected to accept a holding penalty that cost Dansville ten yards. On the second down replay, the Aggie pass fell incomplete. The Burgett connection connected on third down as Mayson passed to Quinnton for an eight yard gain before Jayson Conant tackled him. Mayson Burgett’s fourth down pass to Cash Clark gained thirty-three yards before Brandon Hamlett tackled him. Dansville had a first down on the Stockbridge 25 yard line.

Jayson Conant covered on Dansville’s incomplete first down pass. A face mask penalty negated a short second down running gain by the Aggies and pushed the ball back to Stockbridge’s 33 yard line. On the second down replay, Haydon Tomlin took the ball to the right for a six yard gain before he ran out of bounds. On third down, Brock Rochow made an incredible leap to knock the Aggie pass out of the air. Mayson Burgett took the ball to the left for a nine yard fourth down gain; Foster Pybus got the Panther tackle.

Dansville was short of a first down; Stockbridge took over the ball on downs on its own 18 yard line.

Mayson Burgett broke up Stockbridge’s first down pass with a timely hit. Zac Rogozinski passed to Noah Sandecki on the left side for a seventeen yard gain; Aiden Whipple made the tackle for Dansville. Stockbridge had a first down.

Brandon Hamlett went up the middle for a three yard first down gain. Evan Sykes made the tackle for Dansville. Chris Matyas pressured the Stockbridge quarterback into throwing an incomplete second down pass. On third down, Zac Rogozinski passed to Noah Sandecki for a thirty-yard gain and moved Stockbridge into Dansville territory on the 37 yard line.

Zac Rogozinski threw a screen pass to Noah Sandecki, who earned ten yards and a first down before Mayson Burgett pushed him out of bounds.

On the final play of the third quarter, Zac Rogozinski passed to Brandon Hamlett for a thirteen yard gain.

The third quarter ended with Stockbridge holding a 26-3 lead. Stockbridge had a first down on Dansville’s 14 yard line.

On first down, Stockbridge appeared to complete a pass, but the receiver was out of bounds. A penalty on second down, caused the down to be replayed. Stockbridge recovered a fumble on the second down repeat, but lost twelve yards in the process. Alan Rotarius pressured the Panther quarterback into throwing an incomplete third down pass. Noah Starkey pressured the quarterback and Cash Clark covered on the Panther incomplete fourth down pass.

Dansville took over the ball on downs on its own 25 yard line.

Noah Sandecki covered on Dansville’s incomplete first down pass. Zac Rogozinski stopped Dansville’s second down pitch for a five yard loss. Mason Burgett passed to Cash Clark for an eight yard third down gain; D.J. Sheedy pushed him out of bounds. Domenic Ciminelli covered for Stockbridge on Dansville’s incomplete fourth down pass.

Stockbridge took over the ball on downs on the Dansville 29 yard line.

On the next play, Zac Rogozinski completed a twenty-nine yard pass to Noah Sandecki for a touchdown. Stockbridge faked a kick on the point after attempt; Noah Sandecki passed to Brock Rochow to give the Panthers two more points. With 7:48 left on the clock, Stockbridge had a 34-3 lead.

Because of a Dansville penalty, Stockbridge kicked off from the Dansville 45 yard line. Noah Beauregard kicked off to the Dansville eight yard line; Haydon Tomlin took the ball to the right and gained thirty-seven yards before he was tackled.

Haydon Tomlin fielded the Aggie snap and gained twelve yards around the right end for a first down before Xavier Zimmerman pushed him out of bounds.

Dansville appeared to make a long first down gain around the right end, but a penalty negated the play. On second down, Mayson Burgett passed the ball to Cash Clark on the left side; he went out of bounds at the Stockbridge 13 yard line.

On the next play, Mayson Burgett ran a quarterback keeper for a thirteen yard touchdown. Mayson Burgett completed the extra point pass to Haydon Tomlin, but Isaac Reifschneider tackled him before he could score the two points. With 5:21 remaining, Dansville trimmed the Stockbridge lead to 34-9.

Dansville attempted an onside kick, but the ball did not travel far enough and Stockbridge was awarded a first down on Dansville’s 49 yard line.

Brandon Hamlett took the ball to the right for a three yard first down gain before the Aggie line stopped him. Brandon Hamlett gained one yard on a second down run before Alan Rotarius took him down. Brandon Hamlett’s third down run to the left gained six yards and left Stockbridge inches short of a first down. Alex Baker made the tackle for Dansville. Wesley Reechy went up the middle for a six yard gain to earn another first down for Stockbridge.

On the next play, Brandon Hamlett took the ball up the middle for a nineteen yard gain; Mayson Burgett made the tackle for Dansville.

Stockbridge took knees on the final three plays of the game.

Stockbridge won the game by the final score of 34-9.
