Today, your Bleacher Denizen is on his way back home from Ferris State University, where he covered the Women’s Basketball game between Ferris State and Saginaw Valley. Portland enters the game with a perfect 6-0 record while Williamston is at 2-5.
Dom Novara, the senior who is also the quarterback of Portland’s fine football team is coming back from an injury. He is an excellent ball handler who is a big threat to score either on drives to the basket or from the three point line where he can either catch the ball or shoot off the dribble. He is one of three Portland senior starters who have played on the varsity since they were freshman.
Another of these four year varsity players is Evan Gross. He is a complete guard who defends the perimeter well, handles the ball well, passes accurately and can score either on slashes to the basket or with an excellent three point shot. It is now time to review the events of this game through the aging lenses of an ancient Bleacher Denizen who was never able to escape church league back in the days of yore when he attempted to play. He was showing some promise as a shot blocker, but everything fell apart when the basketball powers that be ruled that he was no longer allowed to use his pogo stick to help him jump.
