It is now time to review the events of this baseball game through the experienced if aging eyes of an ancient Bleacher Denizen who was never able to develop much skill in baseball or softball. When he failed to get a rule change enacted that would have required pitchers to roll the ball to home plate, he realized he would never be able to hit the pitch when it was flying and turned to bird watching for a hobby.
In the top of the first inning, Perry Pitcher Sara Austin retired the three Dansville hitters on a strikeout, a fly to center field and another strikeout.
Dansville Pitcher Laci Neal struck out Perry’s leadoff batter in the top of the first inning. Sara Austin singled to left field and took second base on a wild pitch. Jess Polhemus entered the game as a courtesy runner for Sara Austin. Jess Polhemus advanced to third base on a groundout to second base by Madison Ralston. Alivia Davis singled to left field to drive Jess Polhemus home. Laci Neal struck out the next Rambler batter to end the inning.
Perry scored one run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Sara Austin retired the three second inning Dansville hitters on a strikeout, a fly to center field and a grounder to second base.
Laci Neal struck out all three Perry hitters in the bottom of the second inning.
Sara Austin retired the three Aggie batters in the top of the third inning on a fly to first base, a fly where shortstop Madison Ralston made a nice play running back and a strikeout.
Emma Winans was hit by a pitch to open the bottom of the third inning for Perry. She advanced to second base on a wild pitch and took third base when Teagan Hallock was safe at first base on an error. Teagan Hallock stole second base. Laci Neal struck out the next Rambler hitter. Madison Ralston grounded a single to left field to drive Emma Winans and Teagan Hallock home.
Madison Ralston stole second base and then stole third base. Laci Neal struck out the next Rambler batter. Bella Hamel lined a double to left field and Madison Ralston scored. Dansville Catcher Kaelee Foreman fired the ball to third base to catch the runner trying to steal for the third out.
Perry scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to push its lead to 4-0.
Sara Austin retired the three Dansville batters in the top of the fourth inning on a popup to the shortstop, a strikeout and a fly to third base.
Ava Positano was safe at first base on an error to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning for Perry. Ava Positano was out at second base and Grace Spiess safe at first base on a fielder’s choice grounder to the shortstop. Grace Spiess stole second base and continued all the way home to score on a couple errors. Laci Neal retired the next two Ramblers to bat on a strikeout and a popup to second base to end the inning.
Perry added one run in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 5-0.
Sara Austin retired the three Aggie batters in the top of the fifth inning on a strikeout, a groundout to first base and a grounder to shortstop where Madison Ralston made an excellent backhand stop going to her right and fired the ball to first base to nip the runner.
Teagan Hallock blasted a home run over the left field fence to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning for Perry. Laci Neal struck out the next Perry batter. Madison Ralston belted a double off the left field fence. Laci Neal struck out Perry’s next batter; Madison Ralston stole third base on strike three. Bella Hamel dropped a single into right-center field to drive Madison RAlston home.
Bella Hamel stole second base. Laci Neal struck out the next batter to end the inning.
Perry scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to boost its lead to 7-0.
Sara Austin retired the three Aggie batters in the top of the sixth inning on two grounders to second base and a strikeout.
Laci Neal retired the three Rambler batters in the bottom of the sixth inning on a popup to first base where Alaina Broyles made an excellent running catch and two strikeouts.
Sara Austin retired the first two Dansville batters in the top of the seventh inning on a fly to right field and a soft liner to first base. Ryker Graf was safe at first base on an error. Dansville made its third out on a popup to the shortstop.
Perry won this game by the final score of 7-0.
Laci Neal pitched the complete game for Dansville and struck out thirteen Perry batters.
Teagan Hallock had a home run and one RBI for Perry. Bella Hamel had a double, a single and two RBI. Madison Ralston had a double, a single and one RBI. Alivia Davis had a single and one RBI. Sara Austin had a single.
Sara Austin pitched a nearly perfect game as the only Dansville hitter who reached first base was safe on an error with two out in the seventh inning. She struck out seven Dansville hitters along the way.
