Your Bleacher Denizen came to Fulton to watch the baseball district today. In the first game, the St. Patrick Shamrocks competed with Fowler. In the second game, the Fulton Pirates beat Carson City-Crystal 11-1 in six innings to advance to the final.

It started out as a nice sunny day. It was so sunny, in fact, that I actually stopped to get sunscreen. (I have pale skin and sunburns are an unfortunate part of my life if I am not careful.) However, it gradually got colder and started a misting rain shortly after the final game started. Eventually, it turned into a pretty steady downpour although they continued the game.

Fulton won the pre-game coin toss and was the home team. St. Patrick batted first. Here are the starting lineups.

Jerryd Scheurer was hit by a pitch to open the game for St. Patrick and stole second base. Charlie Thelen singled to right field to drive Jerryd Scheurer home. Charlie Thelen advanced to second base on a passed ball. Fulton Pitcher Bryson Sattler retired the next three Shamrock hitters on a popped up bunt to first base, a grounder to the shortstop and a strikeout to end the inning.

St. Patrick scored one run in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.

St. Patrick Pitcher Brady Leonard retired the three Fulton hitters in the bottom of the first inning on a bouncer to third base and two strikeouts.

Tyler Thelen was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the second inning for St. Patrick. He advanced to second base on a groundout to first base by Simon White and went to third base on a ground single to left field by T.J. Chamberlain. Tyler Thelen scored and T.J. Chamberlain advanced to second base on a wild pitch. T.J. Chamberlain advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Bryson Sattler retired the next two Shamrock batters on a foul fly to first base and a bunt to the pitcher to end the inning.

St. Patrick added one run in the top of the second inning to extend its lead to 2-0.

Brady Leonard struck out Fulton’s first two hitters in the bottom of the second inning and got the third out on a grounder to second base.

Charlie Thelen was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the third inning for St. Patrick and went to second base when Brady Leonard beat out a bunt single. Charlie Thelen went to third base and Brady Leonard to second base when Logan Howe beat out a bunt single to load the bases with no one out.

Brayden Simon doubled over the center fielder’s head to drive Charlie Thelen and Brady Leonard home as Logan Howe advanced to third base. The next Shamrock hitter was called out when he stepped on home plate as he was hitting the ball. Bryson Sattler struck out the next hitter to get the second out of the inning.

T.J. Chamberlain singled to left field to drive in Logan Howe and Brayden Simon. Nathan Fears singled to center field to drive T.J. Chamberlain home. Nathan Fears stole second base and scored when Jerryd Scheurer was safe at first base on an error. Charlie Thelen singled and Jerryd Scheurer advanced to third base. Bryson Sattler retired the next Shamrock hitter on a popup to second base to end the inning.

St. Patrick scored six runs in the top of the third inning to boost its lead to 8-0.

Connor Cunningham doubled to right field to lead off the bottom of the third inning for Fulton. Brady Leonard retired the next Pirate hitter on a popup to second base. Lincoln Beltinck singled up the middle to drive Connor Cunningham home. Brady Leonard struck out the next two Pirate batters to end the inning.

Fulton scored one run in the bottom of the third inning to shave the St. Patrick lead to 8-1.

Bryson Sattler retired the three Shamrock hitters in the top of the fourth inning on a strikeout, a bouncer to first base and another strikeout.

The rain became a steady rain and gradually became more intense. It started affecting the game big time at this point.

Parker Billings walked to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning for the Pirates. He advanced to second base when Parker Duflo singled to center field. Parker Billings went to third base and Parker Duflo to second base when Parker Hungerford was safe at first base on an error. Fulton had the bases loaded with no one out.

Jared Akin singled to right field to drive Parker Billings home as Parker Duflo advanced to third base and Parker Hungerford to second. Connor Cunningham walked to force Parker Duflo home as Parker Hungerford went to third base and Jared Akin to second base. Robert Kral singled to right field to drive Parker Hungerford home. Jared Akin took third base and Connor Cunningham second. Brady Leonard struck out the next Pirate hitter.

Bryson Sattler walked to force Jared Akin home as Connor Cunningham went to third base and Robert Kral to second. Carson Litwiller doubled to left field. Connor Cunningham and Robert Kral scored as Bryson Sattler advanced to third base.

Jerryd Scheurer came in to pitch for St. Patrick. Brady Leonard moved to center field and Nathan Fears to shortstop.

Bryson Sattler scored on a wild pitch and Carson Litwiller advanced to third base. Carson Litwiller tagged up and scored on a fly to second base. Parker Duflo doubled to deep center field. Jerryd Scheurer retired the next Fulton hitter on a grounder to second base to end the inning. Fulton scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 9-8 lead.

Simon White and then T.J. Chamberlain walked to lead off the top of the fifth inning for St. Patrick. Simon White went to third base and T.J. Chamberlain to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Nathan Fears. Jerryd Scheurer walked to load the bases with one out.

Carson Litwiller, who pitched six innings of Fulton’s semifinal win over Carson City-Crystal came in to pitch for Fulton. Charlie Thelen walked to force Simon White home while T.J. Chamberlain went to third base and Jerryd Scheurer to second. Brady Leonard walked to force T.J. Chamberlain home as Jerryd Scheurer advanced to third base and Charlie Thelen to second base. Fulton Catcher Parker Duflo made a great catch of a foul popup near the fence for the second Shamrock out and Carson Litwiller struck out the next batter to end the inning.

St. Patrick scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning to go back on top by the score of 10-9.

Jared Akin was hit by a pitch to open the bottom of the fifth inning for Fulton. He took second base on a wild pitch. Jerryd Scheurer retired the next three Pirate hitters on a fly to left field and two strikeouts to end the inning.

Carson Litwiller struck out the Shamrock leadoff batter in the top of the second inning. Simon White walked and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Carson Litwiller struck out the next batter. As he had reached his pitch limit for the day, Carson Litwiller had to come out of the game.

Lincoln Beltinck came in to pitch for Fulton. Nathan Fears walked. Simon White advanced to third base and Nathan Fears to second base on an errant pickoff throw. Jerryd Scheurer walked to load the bases with two out. Charlie Thelen walked to force Simon White home as Nathan Fears advanced to third base and Jerryd Scheurer to second base.

Nathan Fears scored on an errant throw from the catcher to the pitcher. Brady Leonard walked to reload the bases.

Robert Kral came in to pitch for Fulton as Lincoln Beltinck went back to the outfield. Robert Kral struck out the next Shamrock hitter to end the inning.

St. Patrick scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to push its lead to 12-9.

Bryson Sattler walked to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning for Fulton. Jerryd Scheurer retired the next Pirate batter on a fly to left field. Bryson Sattler advanced to third base when Parker Billings was safe at second base on an error. Bryson Sattler scored and Parker Billings went to third base on an RBI groundout to the pitcher by Parker Duflo. Parker Hungerford singled to right field to drive Parker Billings home. Shamrock Catcher Charlie Thelen threw to second base to catch the runner stealing to end the inning.

Fulton scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the St. Patrick lead to 12-11.

Robert Kral retired St. Patrick’s leadoff hitter in the top of the seventh inning on a fly to right field. Tyler Thelen was hit by a pitch and went to second base on a passed ball. Robert Kral retired the next two St. Patrick hitters on a strikeout and a popup to second base to end the inning.

Jerryd Scheurer struck out Fulton’s leadoff batter in the bottom of the seventh inning. Connor Cunningham singled to left field and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Robert Kral. Fulton made its third out on a fly to center field to end the game.

St. Patrick won this game by the final score of 12-11 and is the district champion. They will play the winner of the Dansville District on Fulton’s field on Wednesday June 4.

Connor Cunningham and Parker Duflo each had a double, a single and one RBI for Fulton. Carson Litwiller had a double and two RBI. Parker Hungerford, Jared Akin, Robert Kral and Lincoln Beltinck each had a single and one RBI. Bryson Sattler and Parker Billings each had one RBI.

Bryson Sattler pitched four and one thirds innings for the Pirates and struck out four batters. Carson Litwiller pitched one and one thirds innings and struck out three batters. Robert Kral pitched one and one thirds innings and struck out two batters.

Charlie Thelen and T.J. Chamberlain each had two singles and two RBI for St. Patrick. Brayden Simon had a double and two RBI. Brady Leonard and Nathan Fears each had a single and one RBI. Logan Howe had a single.

Brady Leonard pitched three and one thirds innings for St. Patrick; he struck out seven batters. Jerryd Scheurer pitched three and two thirds innings while striking out three batters.
