Dansville at Potterville – – CMAC Boys Basketball Co-Game of the Week – – The Bleacher Denizen – – January 27, 2026 – – by Chuck Krafft

Tonight, your Bleacher Denizen is braving the ice, snow and generally freezing weather to head to Potterville, where the Vikings will host the Dansville Aggies in the CMAC Boys Basketball Co-Game of the Week. I am covering two CMAC Boys’ games this week and your indecisive Bleacher Denizen was unable to pick one for THE Game of the Week.

Potterville enters this game with a 3-8 record in the CMAC while Dansville is at 2-8. Each team is 4-10 for all games this season.

While we wait for the game to begin, I hope you will enjoy “Blues Stay Away From Me”, which was written by the Delmore Brothers and is a blues classic covered by many artists in many genres. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TtsKUnqw7g

Potterville Coach Ky Kemp provided me with this information when I saw his team a couple weeks ago.

Elijah Pung is an athletic, dynamic scorer who can hit three point shots off the dribble or off the catch. He is tall, quick and agile, so it is difficult to keep him from getting his shot and almost impossible to block it. Isaiah Woloszyn is a four year varsity player who is very strong and clever when he drives to the basket. His strength helps him to score in many situations where other players might lose control of the ball. He also provides a steadying influence to his team.

Greg Croze is an athletic scorer who can slash to the basket or shoot from the three point line. He is a tough, competitive perimeter defender as well. Andrew Morales is a point guard with solid passing and ball handling skills. He is also a threat from the three point line. Tooker Harris plays in the post. He has a great basketball IQ. He is also a tough defender, rebounder and scorer in the post and he can hit the midrange shot as well.

Damon Boyd is a tough, gritty post player who sets excellent screens and does all the little things that good teams need, but do not show up in the box score. Omar Perez is an aggressive perimeter defender. Nick Morales can score on slashes to the basket and is a tough perimeter defender. He has a knack for coming up with loose balls.

I saw Dansville in the first week of the season and learned this from Coach Ryan Masters.

Mayson Burgett is a junior in his third year of varsity basketball. He is a fine athlete who also excels in other sports. He is able to defend anywhere on the floor and can score on slashes to the basket or shots from the three point line. Anderson Karkau’s speed makes him excellent in the Aggie fast break. Carter Castilla is a freshman point guard who has a good basketball IQ and can hit the three point shot. Kayden Keith rebounds well. Joey McMillan is a good three point shooter.

I got to the JV game just before halftime. Dansville had a 5-3 lead after one quarter and extended the lead to 15-12 at halftime. The Dansville JVs outscored Potterville 19-6 in the third quarter to break things open and won by the final score of 44-26.

Owen Plunket and Holden Roush led the Potterville JVs with 9 points each. Ethan Woloszyn scored 3 points. Alex Jackson and James Gibbs each added 2 points. Andrew Treloar tallied 1 point.

Brody Ream led the victorious Dansville JVs with 19 points. Fletcher Kuznicki supported him with 9 points. Tucker Jolin totaled 7 points. James St. Ament added 4 points. Jackson Pratt had 2 points. Aiden Shutes, Colton Rhines and Broady Scott each tallied 1 point.

It is now time to review the events of this game through the somewhat observant eyes of an Aging Bleacher Denizen who was never able to escape church league in the days of yore when at least some folks considered him to be “young.”

Alas, he did not learn that playing “matador defense” was not helpful until it was too late. One day, an opposing point guard drove right past him as he waved his arm and finally motivated his coach to cut his playing time. Of course, your Bleacher Denizen did not help his cause when he shouted “OLE” as his man drove right by him.
