Goodrich at Frankenmuth – – Girls Basketball – – The Bleacher Denizen – – February 9, 2026 – – by Chuck Krafft
Today, your Bleacher Denizen pointed the BleacherDenizenMobile at Frankenmuth even though he knew there would be a Martian Invasion. However, unfortunately for science fiction fans, these are not dangerous creatures from outer space, but the Goodrich High School Girls Basketball Team. The Goodrich Martians are one of the best girls’ basketball teams in Michigan and they have a perfect 17-0 record. The Detroit Free Press considers them the second best team in Division 2 right now.
The Frankenmuth Eagles enter the game with a 9-6 record. The are in first place in the Tri-Valley Conference Red Division, but play a challenging non-conference schedule.
While we wait for this game to start, I hope you will enjoy this cover video of “House of the Rising Sun” from my You Tube Channel!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jm7njm5177I
I have seen Frankenmuth, my Alma Mater, play a couple times this season. Coach Joe Jacobs gave me this information about his Eagle players.
Macy Donovan is a tall guard who is quick enough to defend the perimeter and tall enough to help out in the post. She handles the ball and passes well. She is a versatile scorer who can slash to the basket to score or shoot from the three point line.
Grace Brenner is a junior in her third year of starting as Frankenmuth’s point guard. She has an exceptional basketball IQ. She is a diligent perimeter defender, excellent ball handler and a respected team leader. Addie Bickel has a nice outside shot and a strong basketball IQ. She is a solid perimeter defender.

It was senior night and the three Frankenmuth seniors, Alyson Peterson, Mya Donovan and Chloe Comstock were escorted onto the floor by their parents and honored. Nyla Sholten introduced Alyson Peterson. Macy Donovan introduced his sister, Mya Donovan and Addie Bickel introduced Chloe Comstock. All three of the girls prepared nice, short speeches honoring the seniors and delivered them well. It’s nice to see Frankenmuth Athletes showing their communication skills as well as their athletic skills!
It is now time to review the events of this game through the somewhat clear lenses of an Aging Bleacher Denizen who was never able to escape church league when he attempted to play basketball in the days of yore. It seems that he could never learn that it is not acceptable to lie on the floor when the rest of the team is playing defense no matter how tired you are. The Bleacher Denizen’s playing time was giving to others who could bring more energy.
