Tonight, the Bleacher Denizen is headed to Bath High School, where the hometown Bees will host the Dansville Aggies in the CMAC Boys’ Basketball Game of the Week!

Bath is in fifth place in the CMAC with an 8-8 record. The Bees are 11-9 overall. Dansville is in eighth place in the CMAC with a 4-11 record and is 6-13 overall.

While we wait for this game to begin, I hope you will enjoy this cover video of “House of the Rising Sun” from my You Tube Channel!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jm7njm5177I

I have seen Bath play earlier this season and Coach Nick Duflo provided me with this information about his Bee players.

Connor VanEss is a tough and energetic on-ball defender. Adien Wolf is a tall guard who defends well either in the post or on the perimeter. He has excellent timing when he cuts to get in position to score. Sam Dunckel defends the perimeter well and can score on slashes to the basket. Brady Smith is a strong rebounder and defender in the post; he blocks a lot of shots.

Luke Wallace is a freshman with a great three point shot. He also has an excellent basketball IQ to help him get open to shoot it. Aden Briggs is a good scorer who is good at timing his cuts to get open. Max DeLeon brings speed to the Bee lineup and gets a lot of points in transition. He is an energetic perimeter defender as well. Calvin Smith is a solid three point shooter and perimeter defender.

Coach Ryan Masters gave me this information about his Aggie players earlier this season.

Mayson Burgett is a junior in his third year of varsity basketball. He is an excellent athlete and is a positive factor on every team he plays on. He is big enough to defend and score in the post and quick and coordinated enough to defend the perimeter and handle the ball. He scores mostly near the basket, but can shoot the three point shot.

Anderson Karkau uses his speed to get open in the Aggie fast break. Carter Castilla is a freshman point guard with a great basketball IQ who can hit the three point shot. He is also an able perimeter defender, ball handler and passer. Kayden Keith is a good rebounder. Kaleb Frost and Joey McMillan are strong three point shooters.

I was not able to see the freshman game, but thanks to Bath’s coaches, who got me a picture of the freshman scorebook. Bath won the game 43-28.

Brayden Frederick led the Dansville freshmen with 14 points. Abram Jones joined his teammate in double figures with 10 points. Dominick Tringal added 3 points and Wyatt DuMonte tallied 1 point.

Drew Van Sickle led the Bath freshmen with 18 points. Beckett Williams supported his teammate with 11 points. Kohlton Johnson chipped in with 10 points. Mac Raphael and Drake Chamberlain each had 2 points.

I arrived at the JV game in time to see most of the second half. Bath was in control at that point and went on to win by the final score of 62-31.

Fletcher Kuznicki led the Dansville JVs with 9 points. Brody Ream and Broady Scott each contributed 6 points. Aiden Shutes and Jackson Pratt each added 4 points. Tucker Jolin scored 2 points.

Sam Fritz led the victorious Bath JVs with 19 points. Adriel Starr joined his teammate in double figures with 10 points. Owen Poppema and Xander Horan each scored 9 points. Beckett Williams tossed in 7 points. Apolo Wolfe contributed 4 points. Drake Chamberlain and Levi Hall each tallied 2 points.

It was senior night at Bath and silver-tongued JV Coach Jon Hinsman introduced the seniors who walked in accompanied by their parent(s) or guardian(s). It is always a little bittersweet to see senior night, as a lot of the players may never play organized basketball again. For the Bleacher Denizen, it’s a bit sad because the season is coming to an end and there will be no more basketball games to blog.

It is now time to review the events of this game through the occasionally vigilant eyes of an Aging Bleacher Denizen who was never able to escape church league when he attempted to hoop in the days of yore. The Bleacher Denizen was showing some promise as a three point shooter until the Basketball Powers that Be ruled he was no longer allowed to use magnets to help guide his outside shot to the basket. As the shooting accuracy decreased, so, unfortunately did the Bleacher Denizen’s playing time.
