Tonight, the BleacherDenizenMobile is pointed Potterville, where the Vikings will host the Ramblers from Perry in a Girls’ Basketball game.

Your Bleacher Denizen has covered the Perry team earlier this season. Coach Greg Hallock provided the following information about his Rambler players.

Ruby Simon is a versatile scorer who can drive to the basket with either hand and can bank in short midrange shots off the dribble. She is also a threat from the three point line. Alivia Davis plays in the post where she is a tough rebounder and defender who can also score. Ava O’Connor is a quick, athletic quality perimeter defender who slashes to the basket well.

Addison Freed is a freshman point guard who is a strong perimeter defender. She is a threat to slash to the basket or to score from the three point line. Josie Logghe is a freshman who can score, defend and rebound in the post. Ava Positano provides rebounding and physical defense in the post. Ally Hart is a freshman who brings a lot of energy and is an active perimeter defender.

This is the first time I have seen the Viking girls this year. Potterville Coach Al Adams gave me this information about his players. Potterville’s roster has no seniors this year.

Aubrey Gasch is a junior who is a good three point shooter. Freshman Addison Dickerson is also a threat from the three point line. Bryleigh Snook defends and rebounds well in the post. She can either slash to the basket to score or hit shots from the three point line. Remmi Lienerth is a freshman point guard who handles the ball and passes well. T.J. Uhl is a tough rebounder and defender in the post.

Ines Jimenez slashes to the basket well. Kendall Lienerth helps with the Viking perimeter defense. Kayla Blake is a good rebounder and defender in the post. She is also a good leader.

I got to the gym and was able to see most of the last three quarters of the JV game. Potterville had a 10-6 lead after one quarter. Perry came back and tied the game at 14-14 at halftime. Potterville took over in the second half; they outscored Perry 14-4 in the third quarter and 15-3 in the fourth quarter. Potterville won by the final score of 43-21.

Madison Jenkins led the Perry JV scoring with 9 points. Rachel Adkins contributed 8 points. Peyton Leykouf added 3 points and Stella Nosis tallied 1 point.

Khloe Bustillos led the victorious Potterville JVs with 12 points. Isabel Wells and Izzy LaPan each supported their teammate with 10 points. Alexa Rogers totaled 9 points. Ella Morris added 2 points.

It is now time to look at the events of this game through the occasionally clear lenses of an Aging Bleacher Denizen who was never able to escape church league when he attempted to hoop in the days of your when he was rumored to be “young.” It seems that the coach’s requirement that the Bleacher Denizen always be between his man and the basket on defense stifled his creativity.

There were days that your Bleacher Denizen’s metaphysical flow seemed best when he stood at midcourt. The coach did not understand the importance of the Bleacher Denizen’s inner peace and became frustrated when opponents started scoring easy layups. Alas, the coach became judgmental and started playing teammates who approached defense less creatively.

Perry wins the opening tap. The Ramblers miss a threeball from the wing. Ally Hart hits a putback to give Perry the first two points of the game. Potterville misfires on a threeball from the side. Addison Dickerson ties up the ball for Potterville. The Possession Arrow loves her hustle and awards the ball to the Vikings. Potterville misses a threeball from the wing. Remmi Lienerth steals the ball for the Vikings.

Potterville misses a three point attempt from the side. Perry misses a three point attempt from the wing. Remmi Lienerth passes to Aubrey Gasch, who hits a three point shot from the top of the key to give Potterville a one point lead. Perry misses a three pointer from the wing. Josie Logghe plays tough defense and forces a Viking traveling violation.

Remmi Lienerth drives and hits a layup for Potterville just as the first quarter buzzer announces it is time for a break.

After one quarter, Potterville has a 12-5 lead.

Perry inbounds the ball to start the second quarter. The Ramblers throw the ball out of bounds. Potterville misses a threeball from the wing. The rebound goes out of bounds and Perry takes possession. Kendall Lienerth knocks the ball away from Perry and Khloe Bustillos picks it up for Potterville. Ally Hart steals the ball for Perry. Remmi Lienerth knocks the ball away from Perry and T.J. Uhl picks it up for Potterville. Remmi Lienerth hits a twelve foot shot off the dribble in the lane to give Potterville a 14-5 lead.

Ruby Simon hits a twelve foot shot off the dribble in the lane for Perry. Perry misses a threeball from the wing and fouls on the rebound. Remmi Lienerth is fouled on a driving layup and hits one of her two free throws to give Potterville a 15-7 lead with 4:41 remaining in the opening half.
