We were just treated to a truly exciting girls game between Swan Valley and Frankenmuth that was not decided until the final buzzer. Here is my play by play of that game!

The Frankenmuth Eagles enter this game with a 5-1 record with only a one point loss to Bridgeport to spoil a perfect record. The Swan Valley Vikings are at 3-4.

Payton Guilbeaux runs the point for the Vikings. He sees the floor well and is an excellent perimeter defender. Drew Kaeckmeister is a fine scorer, defender and rebounder in the post. Lucionno Finley is an aggressive defender who is willing to stand his ground and take a charging foul. Issac Beougher and Kayden Neiderquill are good three point shooters. David Reyes slashes to the basket well.

Will Soulliere is a great athlete who defends really well on the perimeter. Travis Brenner is an athletic defender who is tall enough to defend in the lane and quick enough to defend the perimeter. He is an excellent ball handler as well. Aidan Hoard is another tall man who is able to defend in the lane, is quick enough to defend the perimeter and handles the ball well. Carson Knoll slashes to the basket well and has an excellent basketball IQ. Riley Hubbard is an excellent defender who anticipates offensive tactics well and always runs the floor hard.

Thomas Conzelmann is a tall, skilled player who excels from the three point line. Jared Watchorn is another strong three point shooter for the Eagles. Jonah Sholten is a fine rebounder who brings great energy to the Eagle perimeter defense. Logan Lipka is really fast and uses this to defend well on the perimeter.

It is now time to look at the events of this game through the somewhat open eyes of an aging Bleacher Denizen who was never able to escape church league in ancient times when he attempted to play basketball. People criticized his lateral quickness, although, in his defense, many people struggled to move side to side in the sandals we wore with our basketball uniforms before athletic shoes were invented.

Swan Valley wins the opening tap. Riley Hubbard steals the ball and passes to Travis Brenner for a fast break layup to give the Eagles the first two points of the game. Swan Valley misses a threeball from the corner. Riley Hubbard hits a fast break layup for Frankenmuth. Payton Guilbeaux passes to Issac Beougher, who hits a ten foot shot from the side for the Vikings. Will Soulliere hits a twelve foot shot from the baseline to give Frankenmuth a 6-2 lead.

Swan Valley misses a fifteen foot shot from the side. Aaron Smith gets the offensive rebound for the Vikings. Carson Knoll blocks a Viking shot. Payton Guilbeaux steals the ball for the Vikings. Carson Knoll knocks the ball out of bounds; Swan Valley retains possession. The Vikings miss a driving layup. Kayden Neiderquill gets the offensive rebound for Swan Valley. Will Soulliere steals the ball for Frankenmuth. Aidan Hoard drives and hits a layup for Frankenmuth. He is fouled on the play and hits his free throw to boost Frankenmuth’s lead to 9-2 with 5:28 to play in the first quarter.

Swan Valley loses a pass out of bounds. Frankenmuth misses a driving layup. Carson Knoll gets the offensive rebound for the Eagles. Frankenmuth is assessed with a traveling violation. Swan Valley misses a twelve footer from the side of the lane. Frankenmuth misses a three point shot from the side. Aidan Hoard hits a putback for Frankenmuth. Aidan Hoard steals a Viking pass in the lane. Frankenmuth is fouled on a fast break layup, but misses two free throws. With 4:20 left in the first quarter, the Eagle lead is at 11-2.

Swan Valley travels on a drive. Frankenmuth misses a threeball from the side. Will Soulliere hits a putback for Frankenmuth. Carson Knoll steals the ball for Frankenmuth. The Eagles miss a layup. Lucionno Finley hits a layup for Swan Valley to trim the Frankenmuth lead to 13-4.

Issac Beougher steals the ball for the Vikings. Swan Valley travels on a drive to the basket. The Eagles miss a threeball from the corner. Riley Hubbard knocks the ball away from Swan Valley and Carson Knoll picks it up for Frankenmuth. Carson Knoll returns the ball to Riley Hubbard for a Frankenmuth layup. Swan Valley misses a ten foot runner from the side. Drew Kaeckmeister gets the offensive rebound for the Vikings. Swan Valley misses a three pointer from the side. Thomas Conzelmann makes a great move and hits an eight foot shot from the side to give Frankenmuth a 17-4 lead.

Swan Valley misses a sixteen foot shot from the wing. Travis Brenner drives and dishes the ball to Carson Knoll for an Eagles layup. David Reyes passes to Drew Kaeckmeister, who hits a layup for Swan Valley. The Frankenmuth lead is at 19-6.

Frankenmuth misfires on a triple try from the corner. Swan Valley misses an eight foot shot from the side of the lane. Frankenmuth misses a three point shot from the side. Swan Valley fouls on the rebound. Will Soulliere drives and hits a layup for Frankenmuth. Carson Knoll knocks the ball away from Swan Valley. After the Vikings recover, Carson Knoll steals the ball. There is little time left in the quarter and Frankenmuth misses a half court heave at the buzzer.

After one quarter, Frankenmuth has a 21-6 lead.

Frankenmuth inbounds the ball to start out the second quarter. Lucionno Finley hits the floor to steal the ball for Swan Valley. The Vikings miss a fast break layup. Jared Watchorn drives and banks in an eight footer for the Eagles. Logan Lipka steals the ball for the Eagles. Frankenmuth misses a three point shot from the corner.

Drew Kaeckmeister hits a driving layup for Swan Valley. Frankenmuth misses a ten foot shot from the baseline. Logan Lipka pulls down the offensive rebound for the Eagles. Frankenmuth misses a jump shot. Sam Wickham is fouled on a fast break layup and hits one of his two free throws for Swan Valley. With 6:13 to play in the first half, Frankenmuth’s lead is at 23-9.

David Reyes steals the ball for the Vikings. Kayden Neiderquill hits a double pump layup for Swan Valley. Frankenmuth misses a three pointer from the corner. Swan Valley misses a three pointer from the wing. Drew Kaeckmeister gets his hand on the ball and a Frankenmuth dribbler loses it out of bounds. Carson Knoll steals a Viking pass. Kayden Neiderquill returns the favor and steals an Eagle pass. Swan Valley misses a three pointer from the top of the key. Carson Knoll drives the baseline and hits a layup to give the Eagles a 25-11 lead.

Swan Valley turns the ball over. Carson Knoll drives the baseline and hits a layup for Frankenmuth. Logan Lipka knocks the ball away from Swan Valley and Riley Hubbard picks it up for Frankenmuth. Riley Hubbard drives and hits a layup for the Eagles. Jonah Sholten steals the ball for the Eagles. Carson Knoll throws in a threeball from the side to give Frankenmuth a 32-11 lead.

Carson Knoll steals the ball and hits a fast break layup for Frankenmuth. (I may need to develop a macro to type Mr. Knoll’s name if he keeps dominating the action!) Travis Brenner blocks a Viking layup. Carson Knoll (who else?) hits a fast break layup as he falls. After a Swan Valley turnover, Will Soulliere passes to Carson Knoll who throws in a threeball from the side to push the Eagle lead to 39-11.

Swan Valley misfires on a threeball from the wing. Frankenmuth misses a fast break layup, but Carson Knoll is there to hit a putback for the Eagles. Swan Valley is assessed with a traveling violation. Will Soulliere passes to an incredibly hot Carson Knoll, who hits a long threeball from the wing to give Frankenmuth a 44-11 lead.

Thomas Conzelmann blocks a Viking layup. The loose ball goes out of bounds and Frankenmuth takes possession. Frankenmuth misfires on a three pointer from the corner. Carson Knoll steals the ball and could have a layup, but he generously tosses the ball off the backboard to Aidan Hoard who soars to catch the ball and slam it through the hoop to give the Eagles a 46-11 lead.

Swan Valley turns the ball over. Carson Knoll is fouled on a shot and hits two free throws for Frankenmuth with 5.1 seconds left. As time expires, Thomas Conzelmann knocks a Viking pass out of bounds.

Frankenmuth has a 48-11 half time lead. I’ll have to watch and see; there is a good chance that Frankenmuth will have this lead as the third quarter opens.

Will Soulliere knocks the ball away from Swan Valley and Riley Hubbard picks it up for Frankenmuth. Carson Knoll continues his hot shooting as he hits a layup for the Eagles to give them a 50-11 lead.

Travis Brenner knocks a Viking pass out of bounds; Swan Valley retains possession. Swan Valley misses a jump shot from the free throw line. The rebound goes out of bounds and the Vikings get another opportunity. Swan Valley misses a layup and fouls on the rebound. Frankenmuth misses a three point shot from the corner. Payton Guilbeaux passes to Kayden Neiderquill, who hits a layup for the Vikings. Frankenmuth misses a three point shot from the corner. Travis Brenner is fouled on a putback and hits one of his two free throws to push Frankenmuth to a 51-13 lead with 6:15 to play in the third quarter.

Lucionno Finley steals the ball and hits a fast break layup for Swan Valley. Frankenmuth misses a three point shot from the side. Swan Valley loses the ball out of bounds. Will Soulliere is fouled on a driving layup and hits two free throws to extend the Frankenmuth lead to 62-23 with about 5:30 remaining in the game.

At this point, the Frankenmuth lead is at 68-28 and that is the final scoring of the game.

Drew Kaeckmeister and Lucionno Finley each had 6 points to lead the Swan Valley scoring. Cooper Wagner added 5 points. Isaac Beougher and Kayden Neiderquill each put in 4 points. David Reyes added 2 points and Sam Wickham tallied 1 point.

Carson Knoll had 27 points to lead the Frankenmuth scoring. Will Soulliere supported his teammate with 8 points. Aidan Hoard tossed in 7 points. Riley Hubbard had 6 points. Travis Brenner and Jonah Sholten each added 5 points. Thomas Conzelmann contributed 4 points. Jared Jones and Jared Watchorn each scored 3 points.
