While the teams get ready for the second game, why don’t we listen to this Boogie Woogie tune featuring trumpeter John Rickert and me on the piano from my You Tube Channel. (John also was featured on the “Lonely Bull” video from Game 1!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1MxOus8t44

Let’s review the results of this game through the eager if dimming eyes of an Aging Bleacher Denizen who will always fondly remember the time he broke up a no-hitter in Little League. Unfortunately, in the eyes of many baseball fans, this may not have been something to be proud of as he let a catchable ball drop in front of him in center field to cause the hit. I still treasure my (very) small role in Little League history.

Brody Krzysiak struck out the first two Eagle hitters in the top of the first inning. Dayne Reif singled to left field. Brody Krzysiak got the final out of the inning on a fielder’s choice grounder to the shortstop.

Brady Krzysiak walked to lead off the bottom of the first inning for John Glenn. Brody Krzysiak went all the way to third base on a wild pitch. Wilson Weyrowske went in as a courtesy runner at third base for Brody Krzysiak. Brady Rogers walked. Nathan Ball blasted a home run over the right field fence; Wilson Weyrowske and Brody Krzysiak also scored on the homer.

John Glenn made its first out on a fly to left field. T.J. Cwiklinski walked and went to second base on a (somewhat disputed) balk. Thomas Conzelmann struck out the next Bobcat hitter. T.J. Cwiklinski stole third base. Hayden Ruff walked and went to second base on a wild pitch. Thomas Conzelmann struck out the next hitter to end the inning.

John Glenn scored three runs in the top of the first inning to take a 3-0 lead.

Brody Krzysiak struck out all three Frankenmuth batters in the top of the second inning.

Colton Beson walked to lead off the bottom of the second inning for John Glenn. Brody Krzysiak blasted a triple to deep center field to drive in Colton Beson. Brady Rogers doubled to left field to drive in Brody Krzysiak. Thomas Conzelmann struck the next batter out and got the second out of the inning on a great running catch by Eagle Left Fielder Logan Diener. The Bobcats made the third out of the inning on a popup to second base.

John Glenn scored two runs in the top of the first inning to boost its lead to 5-0.

Brody Krzysiak retired the three Frankenmuth third inning batters on a strikeout, a fly to right field and a grounder to second base.

Ryan Rich entered the game to pitch for Frankenmuth.

Remington Ranck was hit by a pitch to open the bottom of the third inning for John Glenn. Frankenmuth Shortstop Hunter Bernthal went way back in short left field to make a running catch of a popup to record the Bobcats’ first out of the inning. Ryan Rich struck out the next batter.

Colton Beson was hit by a pitch and Remington Ranck advanced to second base. Remington Ranck went to third base on a wild pitch. Brody Krzysiak doubled to drive in Remington Ranck and Colton Beson. Wilson Weyrowske entered the game as a courtesy runner for Brody Krzysiak. Brady Rogers tripled to right field to drive in Wilson Weyrowske. Ben Bricker entered the game as a courtesy runner for Brady Rogers. Nathan Ball tripled to center field to drive in Ben Bricker.

Tanner Sonntag singled up the middle to drive in Nathan Ball. T.J. Cwiklinski was hit by a pitch and Remington Ranck was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Hayden Ruff walked and Tanner Sonntag was forced home. Eagle First Baseman Drew Titsworth made a fine running catch of a foul fly to record the third Bobcat out.

John Glenn scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning to stretch its lead to 11-0.

Brody Krzysiak retired Frankenmuth’s leadoff batter in the top of the fourth inning on a fly to left field. Dayne Reif walked. Ryan Rich came in to pinch run for Dayne Reif. Ryan Rich advanced to second base on a wild pitch and took third base on a single to left field by Drew Titsworth. Brody Krzysiak struck out the next two Eagle hitters to keep Frankenmuth off the scoreboard.

Frankenmuth made several defensive substitutions. Ryan Hozeska came in to play second base. Max Martin took over in right field. Zac Andrews moved from right field to pitcher. Rob Remender moved to catcher. As so many moves happened at once, I apologize if I missed one, but I do believe I named all the Eagles who entered for the first time.

Wilson Weyrowske walked to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning for the Bobcats and went to second base when Brayden Debo walked. Zac Andrews struck out the next batter. Wilson Weyrowske took third base and Brayden Debo second base on a wild pitch. Eli Richardson doubled to drive Wilson Weyrowske and Brayden Debo in. Eli Richardson advanced to third base when Ben Mackenzie was safe at first on an error.

Ben Bricker singled to drive in Eli Richardson as Ben Mackenzie advanced to second base. Remington Ranke doubled to left field to drive in Ben Mackenzie with the winning run.

Because John Glenn had a 15-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Mercy Rule was invoked and John Glenn won the game.

Dayne Reif and Drew Titsworth each had a single for Frankenmuth.

Nathan Ball had a home run, a triple and four RBI for John Glen. Brody Krzysiak had a triple, a double and two RBI. Brady Rogers had a triple, a double and two RBI. Eli Richardson had a double and two RBI. Remington Ranck had a double and one RBI. Tanner Sonntag and Ben Bricker each had a single and one RBI. Hayden Ruff had one RBI.

Brody Krzysiak pitched the entire game. He had a two hit shutout and struck out eight batters.

Hif you have time before the game starts, have you ever thought of setting the stage for us, so we can better visualize the action?
What does each team’s uniform look like? The ballfield?
Remember how Vin Scully used to do that so poetically?

It’s a good thought, but the articles are already so long that I’m not sure that I want to add anything.
