Tonight, there be some Aggies in Dansville trying to suppress some Panthers. This may not be as worrisome as it appears as this will be a boys’ basketball game where the Dansville Aggies will be hosting the Panthers from Stockbridge. This will be the season opener for Stockbridge. Dansville enters the game with an 0-1 record; their loss was to Leslie.

It was a chilly night, but the roads were not too bad, and the BleacherDenizenMobile made the trip to Dansville without too much slipping and sliding. I got to the gym in time to see the last quarter of the freshman game, which the Aggies won 47-34.

Jayden Marshall led the Stockbridge scoring with 27 points. Owen Peckham scored 3 points and John Ransom had 2 points. Jacob Lester and Kris Kunzelman each tallied 1 point.

Cullen Carls led the victorious Dansville freshmen with 15 points. Rogan Hallock supported his teammate with 13 points and Devone Burgess also was in double figures with 10 points. Dominick Tringal added 8 points and Wyatt DuMonte scored 1 point.

In the JV game, Dansville and Stockbridge played to a 13-13 tie after one quarter. Dansville outscored Stockbridge 7-6 in the second quarter to take a 20-19 halftime lead. Stockbridge had a 14-5 scoring advantage in the third quarter and took a 33-25 lead going into the fourth quarter. Dansville never got closer and Stockbridge won by the final score of 46-33.

Fletcher Kuznicki and Brody Ream each scored 8 points to lead the Aggie JVs. Colton Rhines was right behind with 7 points. Broady Scott tossed in 5 points, Nehemiah Courter added 3 points and Jackson Pratt put in 2 points.

Tommy Bills led the Stockbridge team with 19 points. Kipp Vogel supported his teammate with 9 points. Vince Rogozinski tossed in 6 points. Collin Roberts added 5 points. Parker Sandecki had 3 points. Bryson Khozouie and Tucker Lott each contributed 2 points.

Both varsity coaches were generous with their time and information about their players.

Stockbridge Coach Nate Lott’s team graduated some seniors last year and shooting guard Noah Sandecki has the most experience of the returning players. He is an excellent scorer who can snipe from the three point line or slash to the basket. Coach Lott also praised his leadership.

Jonathan Crow is one of sex freshmen on the varsity roster (some also play JV). He is tall and really quick for his size. Coach Lott praised his ability to create chaos for opposing guards by using his length and quickness to generate a lot of turnovers at the point of the Panther press. He has an excellent basketball IQ and is a threat to score from the three point line or on slashes to the basket.

Bradley Buddenborg is a fine ball handler and three point shooter who runs the Panther point. Evan Lockhart is a versatile defender who can cover opponents on the perimeter or in the paint. He can score in the post and is also a threat from the three point line. Remington Christie is a versatile player who can defend the post or the perimeter. He has a wide variety of skills and can play any position including the point if needed. (Bradley Buddenborg, Remington Christie and Evan Lockhart are all freshmen.) Junior Koen Griffith is a tough interior defender and rebounder.

Ryan Masters provided this information about his Aggie players. Mayson Burgett is a versatile athlete who can defend on the perimeter or in the paint. He is a fine ball handler who is a threat to slash to the basket or score from the three point line. Anderson Karkau is a speedy player who is difficult to stop on the fast break. Freshman Carter Castilla runs the point for the Aggies. He has a solid basketball IQ and also has a solid three point shot. Kayden Keith is a strong rebounder. Joey McMillan has a good three point shot.

It is now time to review the events of this contest through the somewhat aware eyes of an Aging Bleacher Denizen who was never able to escape church league when he attempted to hoop in the days of yore. It seems they were not able to have me on the school team because the bricks I heaved caused too many of the peach baskets we used to shoot at to be shattered!
