It is now time to review the events of this game through the occasionally observant eyes of an Aging Bleacher Denizen whose softball career never really got started. He developed a cost saving program that extended the useful lives of softball gloves by avoiding touching balls that were moving to save wear and tear on the gloves. Players simply needed to wait for the ball to stop rolling in the infield or outfield and they could pick it up without the gloves being scraped up by moving balls.
Coaches started mentioning the other team running around the bases and scoring runs as a few more balls than usual dropped in for hits. When the hits started dropping, alas, so did your Bleacher Denizen’s playing time.
