Bellevue at Pittsford – – Eight Man Football – – The Bleacher Denizen – – October 6, 2023 – – by Chuck Krafft

Fortunately for all of us, M-34 does get us there, so we can see the game when the Bellevue Broncos visit the Pittsford Wildcats for an SCAC East vs. West Eight Man Football Game.

Pittsford enters this game with a perfect 6-0 record and Bellevue comes in at 4-2.

I got to Pittsford and after a nice fish sandwich from the Papa Joes Grub-N-Go food truck, I entered the Mike Hoover Press Box and got ready to watch the game!

It’s a cold, rainy night in Pittsford; we will see how this affect’s the game!

It is now time to review the events of this game through the seasoned (if dimmed) lenses of an aging Bleacher Denizen whose own football career never took off after he learned that pepper spray on the offensive line is frowned upon.

Pittsford’s Jacob Drawe kicked the ball off to about the Bellevue 25 yard line where Ashton Kikendall fielded it and gained about eleven yards before Bryce Williams tackled him. Bellevue started its opening series on its own 36 yard line.

Legend Gore and Ryan Evener stopped the Bronco first down run for a one yard loss. Ryan Evener and Lane Lewis stopped the Bellevue second down run for no gain. On third down, Noah Loren took the ball to the left for an eight yard gain before Teegan Williams stopped him. Teagan Williams and Jacob Drawe stopped a fourth down run by Noah Loren just short of the first down. Pittsford took over the ball on downs on its own 45 yard line.

Gavyn Carden went to the left for a three yard gain before Gage Lakies took him down. A second down run by Gavyn Carden was good for two Pittsford yards before Noah Loren and Levi Hughes took him down. A third down penalty gave Pittsford a first down on the Bellevue 29 yard line.

Legend Gore fought his way up the right side for a three yard first down gain before Caleb Dahlem halted his progress. Gavyn Carden threw a twenty yard second down pass to Legend Gore on the left side for a twenty yard gain to give the Wildcats a first down on the Bronco 6 yard line.

A first down penalty set Pittsford back ten yards and negated a touchdown run. Gage Lakies, Nick Patterson and Noah Loren stopped Pittsford’s run on the first down replay for a one yard loss. Riley Beaumont’s timely hit caused a second down dropped pass. On third down, Gavyn Carden threw to Bryce Williams, who broke several tackles on his way to a seventeen yard touchdown.

Gavyn Carden ran to the left side for a successful two point conversion. With 5:46 to play in the first quarter, Pittsford had an 8-0 lead.

Jacob Drawe kicked the ball off to the Bronco 18 yard line where Noah Loren grabbed it and returned it 22 yards before Bryce Williams took him down. Bellevue had a first down on its own 40 yard line.

Seth Keson gained three yards on a first down run; Jacob Drawe made the tackle for Pittsford. On the next play, Lane Lewis picked up a Bronco fumble on around their 40 yard line and returned it about fifty-four yards to give Pittsford a first down on the Bellevue 6 yard line.

Gavyn Carden followed a nice block by Legend Gore for a six yard touchdown run. Gavyn Carden completed a point after pass to Legend Gore, but Nick Patterson tackled him before he crossed the goal line. With 4:38 to play in the first quarter, Pittsford had a 14-0 lead.

Jacob Drawe booted his kickoff to the Bellevue 33 yard line; the Broncos gained five yards before Bryce Williams tackled him. Bellevue had a first down on its own 38 yard line.

Gavyn Carden and Jacob Drawe teamed up to stop Bellevue’s first down run for no gain. Bellevue had a nice sixteen yard second down gain on a run by Noah Loren. Legend Gore appeared to recover a fumble for Pittsford, but it was ruled that the runner was down before the fumble. Bellevue had a first down on the Pittsford 44 yard line.

Noah Loren ran through the middle for an eleven yard gain before Bryce Williams tackled him.

On the next play, Bryce Williams recovered a Bronco fumble to give the Wildcats a first down on their own 29 yard line.

Bryce Williams went around the left end on first down for a six yard gain; Nick Patterson got the stop for Bellevue. Gavyn Carden charged through the middle and cut left for a thirty-five yard second down gain to give the Wildcats a first down on the Bronco 30 yard line.

Legend Gore went to the middle for a seven yard first down gain before Seth Keson took him down. Caleb Dahlem stopped Pittsford’s second down pitch to the right for a one yard gain. Chase Graham stopped Pittsford’s third down pitch to the left for a two yard loss. On fourth down, Gavyn Carden completed a ten yard pass to Legend Gore on the left side to give the Wildcats a first down.

The first quarter ended here. Pittsford led 14-0 and had a first down on the Bellevue 14 yard line.

An illegal procedure penalty on first down pushed Pittsford back five yards. On the next play, Dyrk Hensley recovered a fumble to prevent a Wildcat turnover, but Pittsford lost 14 yards on the play; Ben Murphy got the tackle for Bellevue. Pittsford faced a second down with 34 yards to go.

Legend Gore took the ball to the right on second down and gained thirteen yards before Noah Loren halted his progress. Gavyn Carden took the ball into the middle for a five yard third down gain; Levi Hughes made the tackle for the Broncos. Pittsford still needed fifteen yards on fourth down to avoid turning the ball over. Chase Graham sacked the Pittsford quarterback for a six yard loss; the Wildcats turned the ball over on downs. After a penalty was assessed to Pittsford, Bellevue had a first down on its own 39 yard line.

Gavin Carden stopped Bellevue’s first down run for a one yard gain. Seth Keson gained six yards to the left for a six yard second down gain. Teagan Williams and Bryce Williams teamed up for the Wildcat tackle. Noah Loren’s third down run to the left gained two yards before Aiden Jones made the stop for the Wildcats. Noah Loren fought his way to a one yard fourth down gain before an entire Den of Wildcats stopped him. The sideline crew measured things and Bellevue was awarded a first down on its own 49 yard line.

Seth Keson was forced out of the pocket; he gained three yards on a run to the right before Bryce Williams pushed him out of bounds. Noah Loren carried some Wildcat tacklers for up the middle for a four yard second down gain; Gavyn Carden finally made the tackle for Pittsford. Lane Lewis and Gavyn Carden teamed up to stop Bellevue’s third down run for a one yard gain. On fourth down, Lane Lewis and Gavyn Carden sacked the Bronco quarterback for a nine yard loss. Pittsford took the ball over on downs on its own 49 yard line.

Noah Loren stopped Pittsford’s first down run for a one yard gain. Gavyn Carden did a great job scrambling and avoiding a sack before he lofted a second down pass to Legend Gore for a twenty-two yard gain.

Bryce Williams broke a number of tackles on his way to a twenty-two yard gain. Pittsford had a first down on the Bellevue 4 yard line.

Legend Gore went to the left for a three yard first down gain. Chase Graham made the stop for Bellevue. Lane Lewis pounded his way into the end zone for a one yard touchdown on the next play.

Nick Patterson intercepted Pittsford’s point after pass. With 3:00 to go in the second quarter, Pittsford had a 20-0 lead.

Jacob Drawe kicked the ball off to around the 30 yard line of Bellevue, where Noah Loren fielded the ball and returned it about fifteen yards before Anthony Governo took him down. Bellevue had a first down on its own 45 yard line.

Caleb Dahlem gained nine yards on a first down run to the left before Jacob Drawe forced him out of bounds. A second down holding penalty cost Bellevue a first down. Seth Keson’s pass on the second down repeat was completed to Noah Loren on the right side for a long gain and a first down. After a penalty was assessed to Pittsford, Bellevue had a first down on the Wildcat 20 yard line.

An offside penalty on first down cost Pittsford five yards. Seth Keson went into the line for a two yard gain on the first down repeat; Anthony Governo got the tackle for the Wildcats. Gavyn Carden and Bryce Williams teamed up to stop Bellevue’s second down run for a two yard loss. A third down pass interference penalty gave the Broncos a first down on the Wildcat 8 yard line.

Caleb Dahlem went to the left for a seven yard first down gain. Seth Keson went to the right for a one yard Bronco touchdown on the next play. Seth Keson completed a point after pass to Chase Graham. With 24 seconds to play in the first half, Bellevue trimmed the Pittsford lead to 20-8.

Noah Loren kicked the ball off to Pittsford’s 8 yard line. Anthony Governo took a handoff and returned the ball to the Wildcat 24 yard line where Chase Graham stopped him.

Pittsford took a knee for the final play of the first half.

Pittsford will took a 20-8 lead into the locker room at halftime.

It was halftime in Pittsford and Cami Salazar handled the emcee role with confidence and aplomb!

Hunter Peiffer and Elisabeth Hartin were the ninth grade representatives. Elias Rebeck and Mayci Revers represented the sophomore class. Conner Osborn and Charleigh Goodlock represented the juniors.

The senior class candidates for king included Legend Gore, Brady Hartman and James Lamont. The candidates for queen were Halle Clark, Rebecca Houck and Brooke Smith.

Brady Hartman was named Homecoming King and Halle Clark was the Homecoming Queen.

I glanced at the scoreboard at the start of the third quarter and was not surprised to see that Pittsford still had the 20-8 lead it took into the locker room at halftime.

Noah Loren kicked the ball off to the Pittsford 12 yard line; Bryce Williams caught it and returned it twenty-six yards before Nick Patterson and Param Singh took him down. Pittsford started its first series of the second half on its own 38 yard line.

Gavyn Carden ran to the middle for a two yard first down gain. Nick Patterson made the Bellevue tackle. Gavyn Carden completed a second down pass to Bryce Williams for an eighteen yard gain and a first down; Seth Keson and Noah Loren teamed up for Bronco tackle.

Gavyn Carden followed a fine block by Dyrk Hensley for an eight yard first down gain. Legend Gore’s second down run earned five yards before Levi Hughes and Noah Loren stopped him. Pittsford had a first down on the Bellevue 29 yard line.

Gavyn Carden completed a screen pass to Bryce Williams on first down; but Riley Beaumont was there to tackle him the moment he caught it for a two yard loss. A second down holding penalty negated a second down gain for the Wildcats. Caleb Dahlem knocked Pittsford’s long pass out of the air on the second down replay. On the next play, Gavyn Carden completed a forty-one yard pass to Bryce Williams on the right side for a touchdown.

Gavyn Carden’s point after pass to Jacob Drawe was successful. With 8:57 remaining in quarter number three, Pittsford had a 28-8 lead.

Jacob Drawe kicked the ball on a hard line drive to Levi Hughes, who downed the ball at the Bellevue 49 yard line. Bellevue started its next series there.

Teagan Williams forced the Bellevue quarterback out of the pocket and Bryce Williams forced him out of bounds for a three yard first down loss. Noah Loren gained three yards on a second down run up the middle; Gavyn Carden made the stop for the Wildcats. Ryan Evener stopped Bellevue’s third down run for a one yard loss. On fourth down, Bellevue’s Levi Hughes punted the ball to Pittsford’s 26 yard line where Gavin Corden caught it and gained fourteen yards before Caleb Dahlem and Wyatt Dunlap tackled him.

Pittsford had a first down on its own 40 yard line.

Gavyn Corden gained seven yards on a first down run to the right before he ran into Seth Keson and Noah Loren. A second down penalty negated a nice gain and first down for the Wildcats. On the second down replay, Gavyn Carden went around the left and gained about eight yards. A penalty on the defense gave the Wildcats a first down on the Bronco 37 yard line.

Chase Graham and Nick Patterson stopped Pittsford’s first down run for a one yard gain. Gavyn Carden completed a second down pass to Bryce Williams on the right side for a five yard gain; Seth Keson made a hard hit to get the stop for Bellevue. Gavyn Carden gained three yards on a third down run to the right before Nick Patterson and Noah Loren took him down. Gavyn Carden went into the line for a three yard fourth down gain before Nick Patterson tackled him. Pittsford had a first down on the Bellevue 25 yard line.

Gavyn Carden launched an eight yard pass to Dyrk Hensley, who gained eight yards before Noah Loren stopped him. Bryce Williams cut to the left and back to the middle for a five yard gain and a first down. Gage Lakies made the tackle for Bellevue.

Aden Sloan covered for Bellevue on Pittsford’s incomplete first down pass. On the next play, Gavyn Carden burst through the middle for a twelve yard touchdown run. Pittsford’s point after pass fell incomplete. With 1:14 to play in the third quarter, Pittsford’s lead was at 34-8.

Jacob Drawe kicked the ball off to the Bronco 25 yard line where Noah Loren took it and gained fifteen yards before Nathan Wickard and Teagan Williams tackled him. Bellevue had a first down on its own 40 yard line.

Seth Keson ran out of the pocket on first down and gained six yards before Bryce Williams pushed him out of bounds. On second down, Pittsford was called for two penalties that negated an interception by Jacob Drawe and gave Bellevue a first down on the Pittsford 24 yard line.

A first down false start penalty cost the Broncos five yards. A ten yard penalty on the next play pushed Bellevue back ten more yards; the Broncos faced a first down with twenty-five yards to go. Seth Keson was forced out of the pocket on the next play and gained six yards before Teagan Williams shoved him out of bounds. Caleb Dahlem just missed a fine diving catch on second down, but a penalty gave Bellevue fourteen yards. Seth Keson completed a third down pass to Nick Patterson to give Bellevue a first down on Pittsford’s 13 yard line.

On the final play of the third quarter, Noah Loren ran to the left for a three yard gain before Bryce Williams toppled him.

After three quarters, Pittsford held a 34-8 lead. Bellevue had a second down with seven yards to go on the Pittsford 10 yard line. Pittsford’s Nathan Wickard, Jacob Drawe and Preston McVey stopped Bellevue’s second down play for a three yard loss. Bellevue’s third down pass fell incomplete. Bryce Williams covered on Bellevue’s incomplete fourth down pass and Pittsford took over the ball on downs on its own 13 yard line.

Gavyn Carden gained six yards on a first down run to the right; Chase Graham made the tackle for Bellevue. Levi Hughes stopped the second down Wildcat run for a two yard loss. Gavin Carden completed a pass to Ethan Pickford on the left side; he went to the right for a fourteen yard gain and a first down before Seth Keson tackled him.

Lane Lewis followed a great block by Brady Hartman for a ten yard gain; Pittsford had a first down on its own 41 yard line.

Lane Lewis went to the left for a four yard first down gain; Levi Hughes made the tackle for Bellevue. Gavyn Carden faked a handoff and gained eight yards for another first down before Nick Patterson pushed him out of bounds.

Anthony Governo went over the right tackle for a nine yard first down gain; a penalty on the Broncos gave the Wildcats a first down on Bellevue’s 24 yard line.

Lane Lewis went to the left for a two yard first down gain; Caleb Dahlem got the tackle for the Broncos. Anthony Governo went up the middle for a four yard second down gain; Gage Lakies made the tackle for Bellevue. Chase Graham and Noah Loren teamed up to stop the Wildcat third down run for no gain. Gavyn Carden went to the right for a six yard fourth down gain to give Pittsford a first down on the Bellevue 12 yard line with around a minute left on the clock.

Noah Pann took the ball to the left for an eight yard first down gain. A second down penalty moved Bellevue back five yards. Pittsford took knees on the final two plays of the game.

Pittsford won 34-8 to run its record to a perfect 7-0. Bellevue is now 4-3.
