It was a busy day for your Bleacher Denizen as he went to the music studio, did a Christmas show at a senior home and found time for a couple errands. It was a nice drive to Perry (despite the construction on a viaduct a few miles to the west of Perry) and I got to the game in time to see almost all the JV game.

Perry got off to a 15-8 lead after one quarter and expanded their lead to 36-16 at halftime. Perry won the JV game by a 68-47 final score.

Nathan Sherwood led the Dansville JVs with 22 points. Ayden Mayr scored 11 points and Joey McMillan added 10 points. Cash Clark and Kayden Keith each tallied 2 points.

Alex McEwan had 27 points to lead the victorious Perry JVs. Anthony Cochrane also had a fine game with 25. Jacob Adkins joined his teammates in double figures with 10 points. Alex Torrez tossed in 6 points.

Perry Coach Scott Selbig gave me this information about his Rambler players. D.J. Jenks is a versatile scorer with a fine three point shot. He also slashes well to the basket and is a strong perimeter defender. Tristan Krupp is a fine scorer who can score on all three levels as the real basketball analysts put it! He shoots well from three point territory, has a nice midrange shot and can finish at the rim for those of us who are at the Bleacher Denizen’s basketball knowledge level.

Joey McGraw-Allen is a point guard with excellent vision and passing skills. He is also a fine rebounder and perimeter defender. Austin Poirier is an athletic player who is an excellent rebounder and an excellent defender either in the post or on the perimeter. Tanner Selbig is a big man who is a tough defender and rebounder in the post. Tim Hall is a good perimeter defender.

Dansville Coach Ryan Masters had this to say about his Aggie players. Drew Frantz is a creative scorer and ball handler who has an endless supply of moves to free himself for shots. He is able to score from the free throw line and is also a master of using his creativity to find ways to score at the basket. Calvin vanHartesvelt is a big man who is a smooth scorer in the post. He is also a rugged rebounder and post defender.

Elijah Neal has a nice three point shot and is an excellent perimeter defender. He is really tall for a guard; with his quickness and relentless play, he makes it difficult for opposing guards to get going. Dylan Ream is a fine three point shooter and also a solid scorer near the basket. He plays fine defense on the perimeter and is a strong rebounder as well.

Quinnton Burgett is an excellent three point shooter and a persistent perimeter defender. Mayson Burgett is a fine ball handler who runs the point position well. He is a good perimeter defender and a threat from the three point line as well.

Let’s look at the events of this game through the occasionally observent (if occasionally glazed) eyes of an aging Bleacher Denizen who was never able to escape church league when he attempted to play basketball in the medieval times. While many people criticized the Bleacher Denizen’s lack of quickness, in my defense, I’ll state that most people did not exactly move like the Energizer Bunny in the armored uniforms we wore at the time.
