The lineups are going to be about the same as the first game; Frankenmuth is using a different second baseman. Here are the starting lineups. Although visiting teams generally bat first, in the second game, Frankenmuth will be the “visiting” team even though the game is in Frankenmuth. Your Bleacher Denizen’s mind boggles – – – .

It is now time to review the events of this game through the somewhat observant eyes of an aging Bleacher Denizen who was never able to get very far in his baseball career. Everything fell apart when the baseball powers that be insisted that I would no longer be able to use a catapult to make my throws from the outfield.

Payton Schafsnitz led off the game by crushing a home run over the left field fence and the next batter, Kennedy Crandall did the same to start Frankenmuth off with a 2-0 lead before any outs were made. Kara Kotenko retired the next Egle hitter on a grounder to third base.

Kendall Thompson walked and went to second base on a wild pitch. Emma Sprowl walked and Chloe Kazowski came in as a courtesy runner for Emma Sprowl. Bri Barker walked to load the bases. Izzy Bernthal singled to left field to drive in Kendall Thompson as Chloe Kazowski went to third base and Bri Barker to second.

Kara Kotenko struck out the next Frankenmuth batter. Sienna Bosco walked to force Chloe Kazowski to score as Bri Barker advanced to third base and Izzy Bernthal to second base. Payton Schafsnitz pounded a grand slam home run over the left field fence. Bri Barker, Izzy Bernthal and Sienna Bosco all scored.

Kennedy Crandall walked. Chloe Compau was safe at first base and Kennedy Crandall out at second base on a fielder’s choice grounder to the shortstop for Frankenmuth’s third out.

Frankenmuth scored eight runs in the top of the first inning to take an 8-0 lead.

Emma Kokaly walked to lead off the bottom of the first inning for Garber and took second base on a sacrifice bunt by Alyssa Bowker. Emma Kokaly advanced to third base on a passed ball. Grace Zwetzig walked. Chloe Compau struck out the next Duke hitter and Grace Zwetzig stole second base.

Emma Kokaly scored and Grace Zwetzig took third base on a wild pitch. Kara Kotenko doubled to left center field to drive in Grace Zwetzig. Frankenmuth Shortstop Payton Schafsnitz made a great play when she caught a ball that glanced off the pitcher’s glove and whipped the ball to first base to retire the runner for Garber’s third out.

Essexville Garber scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to trim the Frankenmuth lead to 8-2.

Meredith Krauseneck went in to pitch for Garber and Kara Kotenko moved to first base.

Meredith Krauseneck retired Frankenmuth’s leadoff batter in the top of the second inning on a bouncer to the pitcher’s circle. Emma Sprowl grounded a single to left field. Chloe Kazowski entered the game as a courtesy runner for Emma Sprowl and advanced to second base when Bri Barker walked. Chloe Kazowski advanced to third base and Bri Barker to second on a long fly to center field by Izzy Bernthal.

Miranda Holley beat out a high hooper to third base to drive in Chloe Kazowski as Bri Barker advanced to third base. Bri Barker scored and Miranda Holley went to second base on a wild pitch. Sienna Bosco walked. Miranda Holley moved up to third base and Sienna Bosco to second base on a single to center field by Payton Schafsnitz. Garber Center Fielder Emma Kokaly made a great throw to prevent the Eagles from scoring as the runner held at third base.

Kennedy Crandall drove in Miranda Holley when she was safe at first base on an error on a fielder’s choice grounder. Sienna Bosco moved up to third base and Payton Schafsnitz took second base. Chloe Compau walked to force Sienna Bosco home with a run. Payton Schafsnitz went to third base and Kennedy Crandall to second base. Chloe Comstock entered the game as a courtesy runner for Chloe Compau.

Kendall Thompson singled to left field to drive in Payton Schafsnitz and Kennedy Crandall as Chloe Comstock went to second base. Frankenmuth made its third out when Emma Sprowl was safe at first and the runner out at second base on a fielder’s choice grounder to the shortstop.

Frankenmuth scored six runs in the top of the second inning to push its lead to 14-2.

Chloe Compau struck out the three Garber hitters in the bottom of the second inning.

Bri Barker was safe at first base on an error to lead off the top of the third inning for Frankenmuth. Izzy Bernthal grounded a single to left field and Bri Barker moved up to second base. Meredith Krauseneck retired the next Eagle hitter on a fly to center field.

After Garber third baseman Alyssa Bowker dove and narrowly missed retiring Sienna Bosco on a line drive foul, Sienna Bosco doubled down the left field line to drive Bri Barker home as Izzy Bernthal went to third base. Payton Schafsnitz was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Kennedy Crandall singled to left field to drive in Izzy Bernthal and Sienna Bosco as Payton Schafsnitz advanced to third base. Kennedy Crandall advanced to second base on the throw.

Payton Schafsnitz scored and Kennedy Crandall went to third base on an RBI groundout to second base by Chloe Compau. Garber Center Fielder Emma Kokaly made a great running catch to record the third Eagle out of the inning.

Frankenmuth scored four runs in the top of the third inning to boost its lead to 18-2.

Emma Kokaly was safe at first base on a dropped third strike to lead off the bottom of the third inning for the Dukes. Chloe Compau struck out the next Garber hitter. Grace Zwetzig drilled a single off the pitcher’s glove and Emma Kokaly went to second base. Ava Wagner doubled to deep left field to drive Emma Kokaly home as Grace Zwetzig advanced to third base.

When the runner tried to score from third base on a wild pitch, Frankenmuth Catcher Emma Sprowl quickly got back to the screen and fired the ball to Pitcher Chloe Compau, who tagged the runner coming home from third base. Ava Wagner moved up to third base. Chloe Compau struck out the next Duke batter to end the inning.

Garber scored one run in the bottom of the third inning to shave the Frankenmuth lead to 18-3.

Because Frankenmuth had a fifteen run lead after three full innings, the game was ended by the mercy rule.

Ava Wagner and Kara Kotenko each had a double and one RBI for Essexville Garber. Grace Zwetzig contributed a single.

Payton Schafsnitz had two home runs, both in the first inning, as well as a single; she drove in five runs. Kennedy Crandall had a home run, a single and four RBIs. Izzy Bernthal had two singles and one RBI. Sienna Bosco had a double and two RBIs. Kendall Thompson and Miranda Polley each had one single and an RBI. Emma Sprowl had a single. Chloe Compau had two RBIs.

Chloe Compau pitched the entire three inning game and struck out seven batters.

    Kennedy Crandall is a neighbor of ours. That young lady has Star Athlete written all over her. She could I’m sure complete in any sport.
