Tonight, it’s off to Portland where the St. Patrick Shamrocks will be hosting the Webberville Spartans. St. Patrick enters the game with a perfect 6-0 record; Webberville is at 1-5.

It’s a great night for football; this is a huge relief after lightning and rain really affect the games last night. It’s about 65 degrees out and no rain in sight!!

Tate Mills kicked off for Webberville to open the game. Payton Russman returned the kick out to the Shamrock 48 yard line; Mason Franklin tackled him. St. Patrick started its first drive of the game on its own 48 yard line.

Lucas Simon made a first down run to the right for a seven yard gain; Chase Abner made the Spartan tackle. Patrick Russman gained four yards on a run to the middle before Mason Franklin and Max Mills teamed up to stop him. St. Patrick earned a first down.

Lucas Simon’s first down run to the right gained seven yards before Tate Mills took him down. Payton Russman gained eleven yards on his second down run to the left to give St. Patrick a first down on the Webberville 22 yard line.

Chase Abner stopped the Shamrock first down run for a two yard loss. Patrick Russman gained two second down yards up the middle before Kevin Farmer stopped him. On the next play, Shane Cook passed to Payton Russman for a twenty-two yard touchdown. Shawn Frawley made the long snap, Lucas Simon held the ball and Tyler Groothuis booted it through the uprights to give the Shamrocks a 7-0 lead with 9:10 remaining in the first quarter.

Tyler Groothuis sent his kickoff to about the 11 yard line. Webberville fumbled and Riley Mosser recovered it to give the Shamrocks another possession at the Webberville 18 yard line.

Shane Cook went to the right for a five yard first down gain; Max Mills made the tackle for the Spartans. Payton Russman’s second down run to the right gained two yards before John Coe and Mason Franklin took him down. Shane Cook went to the right for a six yard third down gain before Max Mills halted him. St. Patrick had a first down on the Webberville 5 yard line.

Chase Abner and Mason Franklin teamed up to stop the Shamrock first down run for a one yard gain. Kevin Farmer stopped the second down run for no gain. Shane Cook passed to Payton Russman for a four yard touchdown on third down. Kolson Lycos blocked the Shamrock extra point kick. With 5:28 to play in the first quarter, St. Patrick had a 13-0 lead.

Tyler Groothuis sent his kick to the 21 yard line where John Coe fielded it and returned it seventeen yards out to the 38 yard line before he was dropped by Lucas Simon.

Devin Cook stopped the Spartan first down run for a one yard gain. Webberville’s second down run gained some yardage, but the ball was fumbled and Brayden Simon recovered it for St. Patrick at the Shamrock 33 yard line.

Mason Franklin and John Coe stopped the Shamrock first down run for a one yard loss. John Coe covered on the Shamrock long second down incomplete pass. A third down pass interference penalty gave St. Patrick a first down.

Shane Cook went to the right for a nine yard first down gain. Kolson Lycos had the Spartan tackle. Shane Cook’s second down run to the right was good for thirteen yards; Brad Davis and Chase Abner teamed up to make the Spartan tackle. St. Patrick had a first down on the Webberville 31 yard line.

Tate Mills got into the Shamrock backfield to stop the first down run for a two yard loss. Mason Franklin burst through the Shamrock line to stop the second down play for a two yard loss. Shane Cook passed to Tyler Groothuis for a twenty-yard third down gain.

The first quarter ended here. St. Patrick had a 13-0 lead and held the ball. They had a first down on the Webberville 14 yard line.

Lucas Simon opened the second quarter with a five yard first down run to the left. Kolson Lycos knocked him out of bounds. An offside penalty on Webberville moved St. Patrick to the 5 yard line. Max Mills stopped the Shamrock third down run to the right for no gain. On fourth down, Shane Cook went to the right for a five yard touchdown run. After a bad snap, holder Lucas Simon reacted quickly and was able to pass the ball to Shane Cook for a successful two point conversion. With 10:14 to play in the first half, St. Patrick’s lead was at 21-0.

Tyler Groothuis booted his kickoff to the 20 yard line where Chase Abner grabbed it and gained six yards before Shane Cook tackled him. Webberville had a first down on their own 26 yard line.

However, they didn’t stay there long Kolson Lycos tossed a pass to John Coe who won a race to the end zone for a seventy-six yard Spartan touchdown! Kolson Lycos passed to Max Mills for a successful two point conversion to trim the Shamrock lead to 21-8 with 9:59 left on the first half clock.

Tate Mills booted his kickoff to Braden Simon, who caught the ball on the 39 yard line where he was immediately halted by a phalanx of Spartans. St. Patrick started its drive on their own 39 yard line.

Shane Cook tossed the pigskin to Tyler Groothuis for a twenty-one yard gain before Brad Davis caught him and tackled him to prevent a Shamrock touchdown.

Defensive holding on the next play gave St. Patrick a first down on the Webberville 30 yard line.

Payton Russman went to the left for a five yard gain; Max Mills got the stop for Webberville. Shane Cook faked a second down handoff and cut to the left for a four yard gain before Kolson Lycos put a stop to the play. Shane Cook alertly grabbed a bad snap to prevent a turnover; Max Mills tackled him for a five yard loss. John Coe and Mason Franklin collaborated to stop the Shamrock fourth down run for no gain. Webberville took over the ball on downs on their own 26 yard line.

Braxton Teachworth stopped the Spartan first down run to the left for no gain. A second down holding penalty pushed Webberville back ten yards. Kolson Lycos withstood some fierce Shamrock pressure and launched a third down pass to Max Mills for a seventeen yard gain. Landon Simpson made the tackle for St. Patrick. On fourth down, Payton Russman recovered a Webberville fumble for St. Patrick. The Shamrocks started their next drive on the Webberville 32 yard line.

Payton Russman went around the left end for an eleven yard first down gain before he ran into Mason Franklin and Kolson Lycos.

On the next play, Shane Cook launched a beautiful pass to Braxton Teachworth, who caught it in stride for a twenty-one yard touchdown. The point after pass was not successful; Brad Davis covered on the play. With 4:25 remaining in the first half, St. Patrick had a 27-8 lead.

Tyler Groothuis kicked the ball off to the 15 yard line where Chase Abner grabbed it and gained twenty-two yards up the right side before Shane Cook stopped him. Webberville started its next series on its own 37 yard line.

Lucas Simon covered on Webberville’s incomplete first down pass. Chase Abner gained nine yards on a second down pitch to the right; Landon Simpson made the tackle for St. Patrick. A false start penalty moved Webberville back five yards. Landon Simpson covered on Webberville’s incomplete third down pass. On fourth down, Webberville tried a fake punt; Kolson Lycos was stopped after a four yard gain. St. Patrick took over the ball on downs on the Webberville 45 yard line.

Shane Cook ran to the right, cut to the left and carried some tacklers for a thirty yard gain before Kevin Farmer and John Coe took him down at the 15 yard line.

Payton Russman earned five yards on a first down run to the right; Max Mills got the Spartan tackle. Shane Cook’s second down pass was caught by Braxton Teachworth for an eleven yard touchdown. Shawn Frawley made the long snap, Lucas Simon held the ball and Tyler Groothuis kicked the successful extra point to give the Shamrocks a 35-8 lead with 2:29 to play in the first half.

Tyler Groothuis’ kickoff went out of bounds and Webberville started their next possession on their own 35 yard line.

Kolson Lycos plowed up the middle for a three yard gain; Brayden Simon and Grant Pline made the Shamrock tackle. Kolson Lycos passed to Chase Abner for a two yard second down gain; Braxton Teachworth was there to make the tackle as the ball was caught. Kolson Lycos spun through the line and charged down the left side for a sixty yard touchdown run. Lucas Simon covered on the incomplete Spartan point after pass. With 42 seconds remaining in the first half, Webberville trimmed the Shamrock lead to 35-14.

Tate Mills kicked the ball off to the 24 yard line; Landon Simpson caught the ball and returned it twenty-one yards before Max Mills knocked him out of bounds. St. Patrick started its series on its own 45 yard line.

Mason Franklin and John Coe burst through the line to sack the Shamrock quarterback for a five yard first down loss. Kolson Lycos covered on the Shamrock incomplete second down pass. Shane Cook ran to the left and stepped out of bounds to stop the clock at the Webberville 34 yard line.

Shane Cook passed the ball to Lucas Simon, who stepped out of bounds on the Webberville 10 yard line after a thirty-five yard gain. On the next play, Shane Cook passed to Tyler Groothuis for a ten yard touchdown. Shawn Frawley snapped the ball, Lucas Simon held the ball and Tyler Groothuis kicked the successful extra point to give the Shamrocks a 42- 14 lead with 2 seconds to go in the half.

Tyler Groothuis kicked the ball off to the 25 yard line where John Coe hauled in and gained eighteen yards before Brayden Simon stopped him.

The half ended with St. Patrick holding a 42-14 lead.

It was homecoming night for St. Patrick. Jamelyn Forist took over the mike and did a polished job as the master of the homecoming ceremony! Braxton Teachworth was named homecoming king and Sarah Davlin was the homecoming queen.

Tyler Groothuis opened the second half by kicking the ball to the 26 yard line where John Coe grabbed it and returned it nine yards before he ran into Shane Cook and Riley Mosser. Webberville started its first drive of the second half on its own 35 yard line.

Devin Cook and Shane Cook teamed up to stop the Webberville first down run for no gain. A penalty on the play moved Webberville back ten yards. Kolson Lycos went to the left for a seven yard gain on the first down repeat; Brayden Simon made the tackle for the Shamrocks. Shane Cook pushed the Webberville second down ball carrier out of bounds for a one yard loss. Tate Mills went to the right for a five yard third down gain; Payton Russman got the stop for St. Patrick. Kolson Lycos punted on fourth down. The punt was caught by Landon Simpson, who returned the ball sixteen yards before Tate Mills tackled him. St. Patrick started its possession on the Webberville 49 yard line.

Lucas Simon gained three yards on a first down run up the middle. Kolson Lycos made the tackle for Webberville. Payton Russman dashed to the left for a nine yard second down gain to earn a first down. Brad Davis made the tackle for Webberville.

Chase Abner and Mason Franklin stopped the St. Patrick first down run for a one yard loss. The Webberville defense chased Shane Cook out of the passing pocket on second down; however, he gained nineteen yards before he ran out of bounds. The Shamrocks had a first down at the Spartan 19 yard line.

Lucas Simon went to the right for a six yard first down gain. Max Mills made the Spartan tackle. Payton Russman went to the left and stepped out of bounds after a three yard second down gain. Shane Cook alertly grabbed a bad snap and turned it into a seven yard gain before Max Mills took him down. St. Patrick had a first down on the WEbberville 3 yard line.

Lucas Simon went to the right for a two yard gain before an army of Spartans stopped him. On the next play, Payton Russman plowed into the end zone for a one yard touchdown. Because of a bad snap, St. Patrick was not able to kick the extra point. With 5:49 remaining in the third quarter, the St. Patrick lead was at 48-14.

Tyler Groothuis’ kickoff was fielded by Chase Abner at the one yard line; he gained about five yards before Shane Cook stopped him. Webberville began its series on its own 6 yard line.

On the next play, Tyler Groothuis burst through the Spartan line to tackle the quarterback in the end zone for a safety. With 5:37 to play in the third quarter, St. Patrick had a 50-14 lead.

After the safety, the Bleacher Denizen learned something new about football as Kolson Lycos punted the ball from the Webberville 20 yard line. Landon Simpson caught the ball at the Shamrock 43 yard line and gained fourteen yards before Kolson Lycos tackled him. St. Patrick began its series on the Webberville 43 yard line.

Gabe Wernet went to the right for a thirteen yard gain before going out of bounds. A penalty on Webberville moved the ball up to the Spartan 15 yard line.

Payton Russman fought off some tackles on his way to a two yard first down gain. Mason Franklin made the tackle for Webberville. Chase Abner got into the backfield to stop the Shamrock second down run for a five yard loss. Kolson Lycos covered on the St. Patrick incomplete third down pass. Payton Russman’s fourth down run to the left resulted in an eighteen yard touchdown. Tyler Groothuis kicked the extra point to give St. Patrick a 57-14 lead with 1:49 left on the third quarter clock.

Tyler Groothuis kicked the ball off to the 20 yard line where Chase Abner grabbed it and returned the ball fifteen yards before Shane Cook tackled him. Webberville began its next series on its own 35 yard line.

Max Mills went into the middle for a three yard gain before Payton Russman took him down. An illegal procedure penalty moved the ball back five yards.

The third quarter ended. St. Patrick had a 57-14 lead. Webberville had the ball; it was second down with twelve yards to go on their own 33 yard line.

Riley Mosser covered for St. Patrick on Webberville’s incomplete second down pass. On the next play, Chase Abner took a pitch to the right and charged into the end zone for a sixty-seven yard Spartan touchdown. Pressure by Payton Russman caused the Webberville point after pass to fall incomplete.

With 10:38 to play in the game, St. Patrick’s lead was at 57-20.

Tate Mills kicked the ball off to the 29 yard line; a St. Patrick fumble was recovered by Webberville. Alas, your aging Bleacher Denizen’s imaginary dentures acted up and he was not able to record which Spartan recovered the ball. Hopefully the powers that be won’t make me do JV games for the rest of the season for that. Webberville had a first down on the St. Patrick 25 yard line.

Nathan Fears covered on the incomplete Spartan passes on first and second down. Landon Simpson covered on the incomplete third down pass. Lucas Simon and Landon Simpson covered on the incomplete fourth down pass.

St. Patrick had a first down on their own 25 yard line.

Max Mills covered on the Shamrock incomplete first down pass. Landon Simpson passed to Gabe Werner for a five yard second down gain before Max Mills tackled him. St. Patrick gained some yards on third down, but a holding penalty brought the ball back to the line of scrimmage. Kolson Lycos covered on the St. Patrick incomplete third down pass. Braxton Teachworth punted for the Shamrocks on fourth down. His punt went out of bounds at the Webberville 27 yard line.

Kolson Lycos went out of the pocket to the right for an eleven yard first down gain before Landon Simpson stopped him.

On the final play of the game, Payton Russman covered for St. Patrick on the incomplete Webberville pass.

St. Patrick won the game 57-20 to boost its record to 7-0.
