In the second game of the night, the Ramblers of Perry will play the Dansville Aggies. This is the first game of the season for both teams.

Perry Coach Scott Selbig gave me some information about his Ramblers last night. They will be led by seniors Jack Lamb and Colton Sanderson. Jack Lamb is a point guard who has an excellent three point shot; he can also hit pullup midrange jumpers and passes the ball well. Colton Sanderson is a senior who scores well in the paint; he is also a tough defender and rebounder.

Dansville Coach Hodgson helped me with the following information about his Aggie players. Jared Bristle is a three year varsity player who provides the Aggies with excellent shooting from the three point line, has a nice midrange jumper and can slash to the basket. Sam Hodgson is a four year varsity inside player. He is about 6′ 6″ and really knows how to use his height to gain an advantage, both on offense and on defense. He is a very smart player who is a fine interior defender, rebounder and passer.

Zach Sykes is the usual point guard; he is a really competitive player who defends with gusto. Cody Ream is a fine shooter who can hit from the three point line. Drew Frantz is a good ball handler and perimeter defender. He slashes to the basket well and has a nice floater.

It is now time to look at the events of this game through the frequently open eyes of an aging Bleacher Denizen who was never able to escape church league when he attempted to play basketball in the ancient times. His bricks tore up many of the peach baskets used back then to the point where gyms refused to allow him to practice.

Dansville wins the opening tap. The Aggies miss a driving layup. Sam Hodgson gets the offensive rebound for Dansville. Cody Ream hits a jumper from the free throw elbow for Dansville to give the Aggies the game’s first points. Perry misses a jumper from the free throw elbow. Jared Bristle passes to Junior Keith, who hits a reverse layup to give Dansville a 4-0 lead.

Cody Swain passes to Colton Sanderson, who hits a layup to give Perry their first points. Sam Hodgson is fouled on a layup and hits one of his two free throws for the Aggies. Jack Lamb passes to Colton Sanderson, who spins and hits a layup for Perry. Jared Bristle bounces a pass to Junior Keith for an Aggie layup. Jared Bristle steals the ball for Dansville. Janks, who hits a three point shot from the top of the key to give Perry the lead. Sam Hodgson is fouled on a driving layup and hits one of his two free throws. With 3:33 to play in the first half, Perry has a 22-21 lead.

The Dansville High School National Honor Society collected money at halftime to help support mental health awareness related to the recent high school shooting in Oxford. They were able to raise over $100!!!
