Your Bleacher Denizen would like to thank the Fowler Coaches for tolerating me in their dugout in the first game. In the second game, the Dansville Coaches allowed me to give each team equal time as they tolerated my presence in their dugout.
Here are the lineups for the second game. Even though they are playing the game in Fowler, Dansville is the “home team” and will bat last. This is enough to boggle the mind of a simple Bleacher Denizen, but the players coaches and the rest of the fans seem to get it.

It is now time to look at the events of this game through the eyes of a Bleacher Denizen who was never able to make varsity in the ancient times when he attempted to play baseball. Umpires far and wide clamored to officiate his games as they loved the cooling breezes generated by your Bleacher Denizen’s flailing efforts to actually hit a baseball!
Dylan Ream retired the three Fowler first inning hitters on a fly to center field, a strikeout and a grounder to third base.
Sam Vanneste retired the three Dansville hitters in the bottom of the first inning on a grounder to shortstop, a grounder to second base and a liner off the bat of Cody Ream to center field.
Dylan Ream struck out the first two Eagle batters in the top of the second inning and threw out the next batter who bunted to end the inning.
Sam Vanneste retired the first two Aggie batters in the second inning on a bouncer to the mound and a strikeout. Nathan Sherwood drew a walk. Sam Vanneste struck out the next batter to end the inning.
After two innings, the score was 0-0.
Trevor Spicer singled to open the top of the third inning for Fowler. Dylan Ream struck out the next Eagle hitter. Maclean Smith’s short fly that dropped into short right field would have been a hit with no one on base, but because the runner at first had to hold to see if it dropped, Dansville second baseman Austin Hovey was able to force the runner at second base. Maclean Smith was safe at first base. He stole second base and scored on a single by Carter Lance.
Carter Lance stole second base. Dylan Ream retired the next batter on a fly to center field to end the inning.
Fowler scored one run in the top of the third inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Sam Vanneste struck out the first two Dansville hitters in the bottom of the third inning. Dylan Ream singled to center field. The next batter was out on a bouncer to the mound.
To lead off the top of the fourth inning, Sam Vanneste hit a deep fly where Dansville right fielder Nathan Harmon made a nice play to record the out. Evan Curtis walked. Dylan Ream retired the next two Fowler batters on a strikeout and a foul popup where Dansville Third Baseman Austin Hovey made a nice running catch.
Sam Vanneste retired the Aggie leadoff batter in the bottom of the fourth inning on a fly to third base. Cam Graf hit a solid single to right field. Sam Vanneste retired the next two batters on a fly to right field and a strikeout to end the inning.
After four full innings, Fowler’s lead remained at 1-0.
Dylan Ream struck out Fowler’s leadoff batter in the top of the fifth inning. The next batter was out on a bunt to the catcher; Cody Ream made a nice play to get from behind the plate and throw the runner out. Maclean Smith walked. Carter Lance singled to move Maclean Smith to third base. Carter Lance advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Dylan Ream retired the next Eagle hitter on a fly to the shortstop to end the inning.
Sam Vanneste retired the three Dansville batters in the bottom of the fifth inning on a strikeout, a line drive to the shortstop and a strikeout.
Dansville Center Fielder Zachary Sykes made a fine catch of Sam Vanneste’s deep drive to center field to record the first Fowler out of the top of the sixth inning. Evan Curtis drew a walk. Jon Ruiz came in to run for Evan Curtis. Mitchell Wirth singled and Jon Ruiz went to third base. Conner Katich doubled to right field to drive in Jon Ruiz. Mitchell Wirth advanced to third base.
Nathan Sherwood took over on the mound for Dansville. Dylan Ream moved to second base and Austin Hovey to third base.
Trevor Spicer singled to right field to driver in Mitchell Wirth and Conner Katich. Nathan Sherwood retired the next two batters on a strikeout and a fly to center field.
Fowler scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to boost its lead to 4-0.
Dylan Ream walked to lead off the top of the sixth inning for Dansville. He took second base when Zachary Sykes singled to center field. Sam Vanneste struck out the next two Aggie batters. After a double steal, Dylan Ream was on third base and Zachary Sykes on second. Fowler Left Fielder Maclain Smith made a fine catch running back on a drive by Wyatt Mosley to record the third Aggie out.
Carter Lance singled to lead off the top of the seventh inning for Fowler. He advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Hunter Schlak. Carter Lance stole third base. Nathan Sherwood struck out the next Eagle hitter. Evan Curtiss doubled to the center field fence to drive in Carter Lance. Evan Curtiss went to third base on a wild pitch. Mitchell Wirth walked.
Seth Armbrustmacher singled off the pitcher’s glove to drive in Evan Curtiss. Mitchell Wirth advanced to third base on the play. Trevor Spicer singled to right field to drive in Mitchell Wirth as Seth Armbrustmacher advanced to second base. Nathan Sherwood struck out the next batter to end the inning.
Fowler scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to extend its lead to 7-0.
Nathan Sherwood doubled to the center field fence to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning for Dansville. Sam Vanneste recorded the next three outs on a strikeout, a fly to left field and another strikeout to end the game.
Fowler won the second game of the doubleheader by a 7-0 score.
Nathan Sherwood had a double for Dansville. Dylan Ream, Cody Ream and Cam Graf each had a single.
Dylan Ream pitched a fine game as Fowler only scored one runs in his first five innings of pitching. He finished the game giving up four runs in five and one third innings while striking out six batters.
Nathan Sherwood pitched the final one and two thirds innings. He gave up three runs, but struck out three Fowler hitters.
Carter Lance had three singles and one RBI for Fowler. Trevor Spicer had two singles and three RBI. Evan Curtiss and Conner Katich each had a double and one RBI. Seth Armbrustmacher had a single and one RBI. Mitchell Wirth had a single.
Sam Vanneste pitched a complete game shutout for Fowler and struck out eleven Dansville batters.
