Portland St. Patrick at Dansville – – First Game of Baseball Doubleheader – – The Bleacher Denizen – – May 14, 2026 – – by Chuck Krafft

This afternoon, the BleacherDenizenMobile is pointed at Dansville, where the Aggies will host the Shamrocks from Portland St. Patrick in a baseball doubleheader. It is sunnier than it has been the last couple days, so hopefully it will be good for baseball!!

Here are the starting lineups. Dansville is the home team and St. Patrick will bat first.

It is now time to review the events of this game through the occasionally alert eyes of an Aging Bleacher Denizen who never got very far with a baseball career. It seems his coaches intensely disliked his creative approach to base running. It was so boring to only run the bases clockwise and to give first base all the early attention. When the Bleacher Denizen kept trying to run to third base first, the umpires starting calling him out and the coaches took away his playing time. It seems that trying to get the world to accept new ideas can be a tough thing.

Jerryd Scheurer walked to lead off the top of the first inning for St. Patrick and scored on a double to right field by Charlie Thelen. Charlie Thelen advanced to third base on a bunt single by Brady Leonard. Tyler Thelen walked to load the bases. Charlie Thelen scored, Brady Leonard went to third base and Tyler Thelen to second on a wild pitch. Isaiah Rockey was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Mason Simon walked to force Brady Leonard home. Tyler Thelen advanced to third base and Isaiah Rockey to second base. Logan Howe grounded a single down the left field to drive Tyler Thelen and Isaiah Rockey home. Mason Simon advanced to second base. Mason Simon went to third base and Logan Howe to second base on a sacrifice bunt by T.J. Chamberlain.

Hudson King was hit by a pitch. Mason Simon scored, Logan Howe took third base and Hudson King second on a wild pitch. Jerryd Scheurer singled to right field to drive Logan Howe and Hudson King home. Charlie Thelen walked.

Dexter Schneider went to the mound to pitch. Broady Scott moved to right field.

Dexter Schnedier retired the next Shamrock hitter on a foul popup to the catcher. Tyler Thelen doubled to left field to drive Jerryd Scheurer and Charlie Thelen home. St. Patrick made its final out on a foul popup to the catcher.

St. Patrick scored ten runs in the top of the first inning to take a 10-0 lead.

Cavren Gavin walked to lead off the bottom of the first inning for the Aggies and stole second base. Jerryd Scheurer struck out the next three Dansville batters to end the inning.

Dexter Schneider retired the Shamrock leadoff hitter in the top of the second inning on a fly to third base. Logan Howe doubled to right field and stayed there when T.J. Chamberlain beat out an infield single to third base. St. Patrick made its second out on a fly to left field. Logan Howe and T.J. Chamberlain executed a double steal to put Logan Howe on third base and T.J. Chamberlain on second. Jerryd Scheurer doubled to left field to drive Logan Howe and T.J. Chamberlain home.

Charlie Thelen walked. Broady Scott made a great diving catch of a drive by Brady Leonard to right field to end the inning.

St. Patrick scored two runs in the top of the second inning to extend its lead to 12-0.

T.J. Chamberlain came in to pitch for St. Patrick. Jerryd Scheurer moved to shortstop. Isaiah Rockey went to second base and Sean Fedewa to right field.

Cullen Carls singled to right field to lead off the bottom of the second inning for Dansville. Shamrock Right Fielder Sean Fedewa made a great throw to second base to get him out when he tried to stretch the hit into a double. T.J. Chamberlain retired the next two Aggie hitters on a grounder to second base and a strikeout.

Tyler Thelen lined a single to right field to lead off the top of the third inning for the Shamrocks. He scored on a double to left-center field by Isaiah Rockey. Isaiah Rockey scored when Pinch Hitter Caleb Pline was safe at second base on an error.

Liam Meeker came in to pitch for the Aggies.

Caleb Pline advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Logan Howe walked. Caleb Pline scored and Logan Howe went to second base on an errant pickoff throw. Logan Howe went to third base on a wild pitch. T.J. Chamberlain walked.

Cavren Gavin went in to pitch for Dansville. Nathan Sherwood moved to shortstop and James St. Amant entered the game to play third base.

Cavren Gavin struck out the next Shamrock hitter. Logan Howe scored on an errant pickoff throw. T.J. Chamberlain held at first. T.J. Chamberlain advanced to second base on a groundout to second base by Brandsen Brown. Broady Scott made a nice running catch in right field to get the third Shamrock out.

St. Patrick scored four runs in the top of the third inning to boost its lead to 16-0.

Dexter Schneider was safe at first base on an error to lead off the bottom of the third inning for Dansville. T.J. Chamberlain retired the next two Aggie hitters on a popup to the mound and a popup to first base. Hunter Greenman singled and Dexter Schneider advanced to third base. Dansville made its third out on a grounder to second base.

St. Patrick had a lead of 16-0 after three innings, so the mercy rule was invoked and St. Patrick won the game.

Hunter Greenman and Cullen Carls each had a single for Dansville.

Broady Scott pitched two innings for Dansville. Liam Meeker pitched one inning.

Jerryd Scheurer had a double, a single and four RBI for St. Patrick. Logan Howe and Tyler Thelen each had a double, a single and two RBI. Charlie Thelen and Isaiah Rockey each had a double and one RBI. Brady Leonard and T.J. Chamberlain each had a single. Mason Simon had one RBI.

Jerryd Scheurer pitched one shutout inning for St. Patrick. He allowed no hits and struck out three batters. T.J. Chamberlain pitched two innings. He gave up no runs and two hits while striking out one batter.
