It is now time to review the events of this game through the somewhat alert eyes of a Bleacher Denizen who never had much of a baseball career. While this tendency was an asset in his later career as an accountant, his baseball coaches disliked one of his money-saving ideas intensely.

Your Bleacher Denizen started to realize that he could limit the wear and tear on his baseball glove by letting the ball drop and roll to a stop in the outfield before he risked damage to the glove by allowing the ball to hit it. While this did a great job of keeping the Bleacher Denizen’s glove nice and new, the coaches started complaining about “inside the park home runs” and pitcher’s parents were upset by “inflated Earned Run Averages.”

This sent the Bleacher Denizen permanently to the bench and his practical money-saving idea was abandoned. Alas, sometimes, things just don’t work out.
